About Me

CURRENT MISSION

All sorts of everything. Drifting with intent, hanging out with interesting folks with good experiences to share, learning some things I havent learned before...

ABOUT ME

Come and see!

PHILOSOPHY

Ah sure, might as well!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It's a great resource for meeting up with people at home and abroad. Would give you confidence in the kindness of strangers and makes travel less stressful 'cos everybody needs a friendly guide sometimes to point you in the right direction.

Interests

Moving, histories and myths, people and animals, oceans, deserts, the weather, running uphill backwards, strange delirious tongues, great ideas, parties, celebrations, rituals, firesides and starlight, malbec and syrah.

Music, Movies, and Books

Favourites are a moveable feast. So this is what I'm listening/watching and reading (and enjoying) this month:

-Lee Perry, Ornette Coleman, Holger Czukay, Kronos Quartet, Bert Jansch, Fela Kuti, Aphex Twin
-The Man who Fell to Earth 4K restoration, The Century of the Self, The Legend of the Holy Drinker
-"Travels in Siberia, Mongolia, The Central Steppes and Chinese Tartary"; "Idle Thoughts of an Idle Fellow"; "L'Ingenu"; "Through the Language Glass: Why the World looks different in other Languages"
"A Brief History of Everyone Who Ever Lived"

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

-made a lot of good friends who always cheer me up and never let me down
-spent a decade living in Kyrgyzstan
-still crazy after all these years )

Teach, Learn, Share

I know a little about a lot of things and a lot about a few things. I studied languages, history, and politics, so i guess I know a lot of tall tales in different tongues.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Wine, wit and laughter. In addition, I can cook, chop wood, dance when I'm drunk and generally be useful.

Countries I’ve Visited

Afghanistan, Albania, Argentina, Armenia, Australia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Chile, Guyana, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Laos, Suriname, Uruguay, Uzbekistan, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In

England, Ireland, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan
