About Me

ABOUT ME

I'm a life-long traveller, currently in Georgia but soon to be in New York. I love playing music, being outdoors (for building, farming, skiing, climbing, camping, or whatever), working on a project, and meeting new people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I couchsurfed a few times on my gap year, and had some great experiences. Since then I've been limiting my internet access, so I haven't been all that active, but I've started traveling again and would also like to host when I get home.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have traveled a lot in my life, but I only started couchsurfing in 2011. My first CS experience was in Lisbon with two Austrian girls, and I had several other good experiences later on that trip. Since then I haven't done any formal couchsurfing, although I've slept on a lot of couches, but I've benefited a lot from the kindness of strangers, especially in the past year. I hope to host a few more people now that I'm back online.

Music, Movies, and Books

Most recently read "Dr Zhivago" and a book on the recent history of the Caucasus, most recently watched "Boogie Nights", most recently been listening to "The Boatman's Call" by Nick Cave and Georgian polyphony (cause I'm in Georgia)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In summer 2010, I was in Iceland on a horse-riding trip. On day three, when we were riding through a desert (near Eyjafjallajokull!) and a dust storm came up. I spent an hour and a half riding full tilt without being able to see the horse beneath me, occasionally seeing another rider through the mist, and splashing across glacial rivers spilling out over the desert. I've done some other neat things since then but that was pretty unique, also probably the only time I've been at serious risk of hitting a car on horseback.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm still quite young, and want to learn about whatever I can, especially practical skills like mechanics, carpentry, farming, cooking, languages, and tips on guitar, outdoor sports, and life. I'm also always looking for interesting stories. I have a bit of experience teaching English, and can at least help you practice speaking and improve your vocabulary. I've found that you never know what you might end up teaching someone; although I don't have too many extremely specific, well-developed skills, I've often found ways to help people learn new things using what knowledge I do have. I can share music, good conversation, a lot of high-school book knowledge, and general enthusiasm for most things.
