Overview
About Me
FIRST!! I haven't been good at responding to requests recently because I have been so busy and forget to check Couchsurfing. I have a small one-bedroom apartment that I share with my niece. I might be able to host you if you don't mind a mat on the floor.

CURRENT MISSION
I have two great passions at the moment: 1) science 2) travel.
I am in France working in nuclear fusion and living the dream!
ABOUT ME
Farmer, engineer, teacher, traveler, perpetual student. I work hard and play hard. I do my best to tolerate people's ignorance and ask that folks kindly do the same for me. I enjoy good conversations, but I don't keep up with current events. It is very difficult to offend me, but that doesn't mean you should try. Cheers.
PHILOSOPHY
Learn from yesterday,
Live for today,
Look toward tomorrow.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I love using couchsurfing whenever I travel. Finding local people to host me broadens my experience in that place and culture so much more than any hotel ever could. Not only do I save money, but my mind is opened with every person I meet. So far I haven't lived in very accessible places so I haven't been able to host very much but when I do host I like to go to dinner with my CS'ers and get to know about their travels, get inspired for more places to go and learn all the more about the world and its people.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My roommate in New Mexico signed us up for couchsurfing. We hosted a couple of really interesting and nice folks and I've been loving it ever since.
Interests
I have a lot of varied interests. I'm not up on pop-culture nor do I follow any sports teams. However, I do love playing sports of all kinds. I like reading novels and science fiction whenever I have time. And of course I really enjoy languages. My goal for this first year in France is to reach conversational fluency in French.

Music, Movies, and Books
Country and Western, Les Miserables (the musical), "Sophie's World," "The Name of the Rose", "Boondock Saints", "Ender's Game", The Dubliners
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I rode my bicycle from Ge er mu in Qinghai province, China to Kunming in Yunnan province. It was over 2000 km and most of it was extremely high elevation. It was grueling, but by far the most beautiful, challenging and amazing trip I have ever made.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm an engineer, so my skills and knowledge are in mathmatics, physics, and technology. I taught math and physics in Africa and China. It isn't such a practical knowledge set for travelers, but I am pretty good at fixing bicycles and making small repairs to little things if you need any help.
I really like learning language and culture. Please share with me some things that most visitors don't get to know about your place, people, religion, creed, and culture.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I used to have more written here, but I had one guest take advantage of my hospitality and I ended up regretting it. So, if you need anything more than a bed and a shower, just ask. I am happy to provide it if I have it and if I don't have it, I am sure I can help you find it.
If I have time, I'd be happy to make dinner for you, or we can just go out to eat. If you come on the weekend then we can have more time to chat and swap travel stories.
