making the northermost city of Germany, Flensburg, our new home!
ABOUT ME
We are a family with two little daughters age 8 and 10 and we enjoy travelling. We just came back from a three-year Lasting trip with our sailing boat round South America and are now back in Germany. We still own our boat and Michael will be offering sailing trips for paying guests around the worl in the future. We are an open, tolerant family and easy to get along with. We think it's wonderful experience for our children, to get to know different cultures and to realize how differently people live on this planet.
Right now, we live together with our Au Pair from Andalusia and our dog Lars from the Azores.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We first learned about couchsurfing from a friend, who has been couchsurfing with her family variuos times. As we were travelling in South America by car, we felt it would be worth trying and we weren't disappointed. Couchsurfing is the perfect way to create yet another experience of travelling. We like this little excitement before we arrive to a new couch and the little sadness to leave a friend behind, when we go.
We hosted quite a few Surfers when we rented a house in Chile, which resulted in having lots of international dinners at home. Best experience ever was Sushi for starter from a japanese Girl, german main course and French chocolate pie for desert from a French surfer who came with his parents who surfed for the first time ever. Three Generations and three nationalities, for me, this is the true couchsurfing Spirit!

Music, Movies, and Books
Nathalie: I can spend an afternoon flying through a good scandinavian crime novel but I also love taking my time for a novel of Vargas LLosa or Isabel Allende. In general I think you can learn a lot about the country you travel, by reading it's literature.
Michael reads more manuals than novels, which I never do, risking the one or other joke if I need help with the computer or our camera.
We both like electronic music as well as jazz and latin american music. I also love Flamenco, Fado and french music and since we have been to Buenos Aires even Michael likes to listen to Tango.
We rarely get to watch movies, but if we do, it's not the blockbusters.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Crossing an ocean and swimming in the big blue sea in the middle of nowhere,
The loneliness of the Chilenean Channels of Patagonia.
The eternal ice of ventisquiero Pio XI.
Rounding Cape Horn on a sunny, windy day.
