About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I'm traveling all around Europe (backpacking) until late June, and would love to meet people who are willing to share their experiences and day to day lives.

ABOUT ME

I'm open-minded and even-keeled. I'm very agreeable and empathic, and tend to be calm and collected in most situations. I'm an optimist, a linguist, and a conversationalist at heart; I like to listen, and reflect this in my interactions through attentiveness. I have a serious, thoughtful disposition, but a lighthearted and friendly temperament. I'm introverted by nature, but sociable when there is something new or challenging to experience. I like to test myself by being outside my comfort zone. I'm rational, self-sufficient, and independent. I believe in reciprocation, honesty as a principle and a point of pride, and character as illustrated through actions and intent. I have flexible ideas, and I respect context above absolutes.

PHILOSOPHY

Do unto others as you would wish others do unto you.
Altruism is the core of a happy heart.
Finding the positive in life is a matter of perspective, patience, and will.
Wisdom is the product of knowledge from which experience has removed the purely presumptive elements.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm keeping a detailed written record of my travels and I like to develop short stories based on my experiences. I want to meet local people who are willing to share their character and experiences.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've informally couch surfed plenty at home in the United States, mostly through friends and family. I've stayed in hostels, and have only recently begun to couch surf in Europe (only France and Switzerland so far).

Interests

Conversation, great food/drink, art, politics, sports, literature, psychology, philosophy, and games (especially ones that I've never seen before, and old classics)!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've done several challenging things; many of them I've had the courage to do alone.

Teach, Learn, Share

Be adaptable.
Be patient.
Be hardened in your resolve, but malleable in your means of attaining what you seek.
With the unexpected comes opportunity, and if nothing else, the ability to learn from a mistake.
Be careful, but compassionate.
Don't take things at face value; be wary but open-minded.
Be organized in preparation (documents, supplies, etc...), but be willing to change plans as you inevitably will have to.
Panic breeds frustration, and neither will get you anywhere, especially from those who might otherwise be a source of help.
