About Me
CURRENT MISSION
My research on neuroscience, learning to play the guitar, making people laugh. :-)
ABOUT ME
I'm a physicist doing neuroscience research and I am moving back and forth between San Francisco and Jena (Germany) every couple of months.
I am extremely happy to have the feeling of working on something, that can help people -- maybe this feeling is stronger since it is not that common for physicist. :-) I am an agnostic, but that doesn't mean not to be humorous and cheerful. I'm gonna make you laugh - at least I will try!
PHILOSOPHY
It would take an evening and a bottle of wine to explain how I would change the world. How I will -- when I am grown up. :-)
You are invited to participate in such an evening (and in changing the world).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Whenever I am in San Francisco I attend the Couchsurfing Underground meeting, an event I can strongly recommend to anyone comming to the bay area.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I get approx. 2 couchrequests a year, but following Murphy's law exactly when I am out of town. It took three years and needed a city like San Francisco for my first experience as a host.
In Antwerp / Belgium I got tought in the plentifulness of Belgium's beers and in Paris our hosts drove us trough the whole city by night. Sooo impressive.
Interests
Technical stuff and science in general. Currently, due to my thesis I care a lot about neuroscience, an absolutely impressive field, connecting live sciences, physics, mathematics and psychology.
Cooking, travelling and photography.
A few months ago I started to eliminate what always bothered me: Not to play an instrument, so now I play the guitar. Or better: I try to. :-)
I do a lot of sports, foremost volleyball (ball games in general) and snowboarding.

Music, Movies, and Books
Indie rock/pop and singer-songwriter music.
I have a faible for survival guides, full of -- hopefully -- useless knowledge how to escape from bears and how to handle snake poisoning.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Plitvice Lakes national park in Croatia. One of the most impressive beauty spots in europe.
The synagogue in Szeged / Hungary. An absolutely stunning building. Yes, even breathtaking while not being religous.
Teach, Learn, Share
Physics, especially of medical imaging.
IT stuff... Me and the computers - we are friends ;)
