About Me

ABOUT ME

I grew up in the US in Texas and have lived in Texas, Colorado, and DC. I've traveled a bit, taught school and meditated. I've worked as a teacher, psychotherapist, entrepreneur and consultant.

PHILOSOPHY

I see us as all citizens of a shared world. We are tasked with figuring out how to get along, how to live in balance with the natural environment, how to develop culturally and socially, and how to expand our economic environment to include the solar system.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I just joined (January, 2011).

I am not in a position to host right now, but I am happy to share coffee or tea, advise travelers and sometimes play tour guide.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I just joined the official CouchSurfing community. Very exciting! I've been a couch surfer for decades, though, and hosted many friends, many times. Here's my unofficial CS surfing story:

In 1983 I found myself in the north of England without money (before the age of cell phones :-). To eat, I found work on a farm, then later found a job in Florence, where I lived for half a year. By living and working with people, I really got to know them and the culture. I began traveling with very little money, so little I couldn't stay anywhere unless someone local took me in and offered me their couch! I have done this in England, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Jamaica and Mexico.

How past traumas (natural disasters, wars) shape and constrain culture, religion, economic and psychological development, political organization, and social discourse—and what we can do within and between our countries to loosen constraints from traumas, to gain more freedom to shape our lives, communities and greater environment.
