ABOUT ME
A guy who loves travelling, and loves trying things which I have never tried before and experiencing new stuff :) Ambitious and a bit of a perfectionist too haha. Believes that a person can create his own destiny and achieve whatever he wants to achieve, as long as he is willing to do anything to earn it.
Hallo, vrienden! Mijn naam is Yongxin, en mijn leeftijd is 19. Mijn nationaliteit is Maleisisch, maar ik woon in Singapore tegenwoordig.
¡Hola, amigos! Me llamo Yongxin, y tengo diecinueve años.
Hi, friends! My name's Yongxin, and I am 19. I am from Malaysia but I am currently living in Singapore.
Mi ankoraÅ estas studas Esperanton nuntempe, Äar mi deziras atingi lingvokapablo. I am still currently studying Esperanto, because I wish to achieve fluency.
Fluency in as many languages as possible is one of my goals in life, because I believe that the things we do in life for other people are more important than the things we do for our own enjoyment, and one of the ways to actually do something for people is to be able to communicate with them in the same language as them so it will be easier for them to understand you, instead of assuming that others are expected to speak to you in your native language just for your own benefit. It is similar to how many people choose to consume products which others make with sheer hard work, instead of actually working hard to produce something by themselves for once.
I love socialising a lot, and am open to making new friends from many different cultures. It is really enriching to actually learn about the different cultures in this world, and gain some knowledge out of them. I believe that every waking moment of our lives should be spent by always having something to do, no matter what it is, and always having something new to learn :)
PHILOSOPHY
Life, as far as I know, can only be lived just once. It should therefore be spent wisely and never be wasted away. This can be done with having new experiences, going on new learning journeys and improving one's flaws as best as one can. This is a very important aspect of life that everyone should do.
Almost everyone wants the same thing in life. They want a secure and stable lifestyle with little troubles and they want to be successful. Overall, everyone wants a comfortable and good life. However, here is the catch. There are people who work and toil as hard as they can to gain the life that they wish for, so their success rate at achieving a good life is almost always guaranteed. And then there are others who just laze around and expect a good life to just suddenly and miraculously appear out of nowhere in particular. Obviously, things for them can only end up in a positive note ( sarcasm intended ).
Unfortunately, in order to be able to earn for oneself even just a relatively normal life, one also has to work hard for it. Success doesn't just appear out of trees and life in itself is not some bedtime fairytale story that parents read to children every night. As much as we all desire for a happy ever after like in fairytale stories, there is no such thing in the real world. Instead, it is " Welcome to real life, where in order to be successful and comfortable, you got to work for everything, by yourself".
Another reason why I live my life is to always DO something for others, and to always be useful to people. Let's just say that we are supposed to list 5 impressive qualities that we possess. Here's the catch: we can only list down the things we DO as impressive qualities, NOT who we ARE as a person. Yes, this is gonna sound shallow, brutal and pretty much inhuman, but the world only cares about what you can PROVIDE, and not necessarily how nice or honest or kind you are. You may argue that it is what is on the inside that matters, and that it does matter who we are as a person. Yes, it does matter, but it matters BECAUSE of what it makes you DO.
For example, a friend of yours has fallen terribly ill, and he/she needs immediate medical attention or risk losing his/her life. You frantically call a doctor along and you ask him whether he knows how to save your friend. He tells you that he's a nice guy, he's always honest, and he is always kind to everyone. You ask, " But you do know how to heal my friend's medical condition, don't you?" He gets pissed off, and tells you that he has never committed a crime, never uses foul language, and always puts people in his thoughts, so, in light of all the good things he has done, why does it matter whether he knows how to heal your friend or not? I'm sure at that point that you will be almost ready to punch him in the face and scream at him, " Yes, it FUCKING matters, cos my friend is about to DIE, and right now, ALL I NEED is someone who can SAVE my friend, you IDIOT!"
See, it doesn't mean that just because you are nice and all you automatically deserve all the good things in life. You have got to earn it, NOT by just being nice, but by actually WORKING HARD to earn it through actually DOING SOMETHING! And even if you are actually doing something right now, you got to learn that from time to time, you have got to IMPROVE yourself in whatever you do. Nobody in this world is 100% perfect. In physics, you actually will learn that there is no such thing as 100% efficiency. The same law is applied to perfection. No one can claim that he is already totally perfect and that there is no room left for improvement. Therefore, I always ensure that in everything I do, I always make improvements here and there and accept criticism from others.
At the end of the day, by the time the shit hits the fan and the final curtain draws near, it's whether you can proudly look back at your life, look at all the things you have done and achieved, and say you are content and proud of what you have done with the life you have been given. So yeah, as long as I'm alive, improving myself, learning and achieving, and enriching myself with new experiences are the main reasons for being alive :)

Music, Movies, and Books
There is a wide range of music which I listen to, but I prefer house, techno, trance and mainstream music, although recently I have been listening to thai and filipino rock, as well as a bit of thai pop. I also prefer to listen to music in languages other than english, as it helps in language exposure. I used to hate reading, which was stupid, but now I always read language phrasebooks, and books that guide me on language hacking. As for movies, I love watching comedy, crime, disaster and horror movies, preferably in other languages as well, and I love crime documentaries and documentaries which let me learn more about the world and its wide range of lessons and experiences. Other than that, I try not to waste too much time on them, as I prefer to produce, rather than to waste time just consuming what others have made with sheer hard work.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The hosting experiences I have gotten in Singapore are so amazing, as everytime I host a new surfer, I learn something new. It is good to have all these experiences. Besides, I am now going a step up in my language hacking skills, by starting to use everything that requires reading in a language other than English. I have started with Español, and right now, I am using Couchsurfing, Wikipedia, Google Chrome, newspapers, books, movies, etc in Español. Gonna immerse myself totally in Español as a main language whenever I get the chance to, and of course continue to study other languages from time to time while I'm at it. My goal is to be fluent in Español in 2 months.
Teach, Learn, Share
From the moment that one is born into this world, he/she has been thrown into a system that pretty much teaches him/her to be a person that sees to everyone's needs. So he/she has no choice but to either go about to seeing to those needs by learning a unique set of skills that allows him/her to do so, OR just sit down and complain about how cruel the system is, which will ultimately get him/her rejected by society in general, no matter how good his/her morals are.
Wait a minute, so does that mean that it doesn't matter if one is mean, materialistic and being a jerk, as long as he or she is providing for society's needs? Then what about love? What about kindness? What about morals and just being plain nice to everyone? They do matter, BUT ONLY IF they result in you actually PROVIDING for people, instead of just preaching about morals and kindness and all without actually putting it into action and practice. It's just like those people who shed tears and offer condolences to victims of serious natural disasters, BUT lift NOT EVEN A FINGER to actually go and HELP those victims. They will not even donate a CENT to those poor victims although they preach about how these victims are always in their thoughts. Well, if they actually want to help, they should get their lazy ASS off their couch and go out to HELP.
In conclusion, it only does matter who we are as a person if we do something useful for others. Even if one is a total douche, at least he/she is going out there doing something useful for others, unlike those nice guys who just laze around and complain that the world is cruel because they only care about what others can provide for them, when they themselves expect people to provide them with the care and concern that they want without doing anything in return.
