About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I am dedicated to learning the Korean language as best I can while training in Monterey. From time to time, it would be nice to mix it up with fun, interesting, and energetic adventurers who love to live life at its fullest.
ABOUT ME
I currently have five years of service in the Army under my belt, and am a Sergeant at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, CA. My first four years, past basic at Ft. Jackson and AIT at Ft. Meade (DINFOS), were spent at Ft. Bragg, NC, as a Broadcast Journalist in a PSYOP unit.
My bachelor's degree in Creative Writing came from Central Michigan University in May of '06...I couldn't get a job, so I joined the service. Writing has always been a passion of mine. Discipline is becoming one, so I may publish some work in the future.
I have an interesting past. Ask me about it some time.
PHILOSOPHY
Let's be positive and encourage each other to discover and overcome our most daunting obstacles. Together, we can make it. It is my strong desire to learn with and through others. There are no strangers, only people I haven't met yet.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I will surf for now, but plan on hosting as soon as possible.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
One of my best friends from college, Kari Hatfield, introduced me to CouchSurfing and, for that, I am eternally grateful. I have crashed at her place a couple times and made some lasting memories in Baltimore.
On our way to Monterey, Kari and I stopped in Albuquerque, NM, and met some amazing couch surfers there. Special thanks to Bob, the host. His knowledge of the city and passion to share are second to none!
Interests
I love games-- video, board, role playing, cards, etc.
I am usually up for anything as long as I can smell the adventure in it.
I have some experience at improvisational comedy, acting, lighting, photography, and singing.
Karaoke is a blast when no one sucks. If you do suck, you better know it and be entertaining as hell.

Music, Movies, and Books
The Royal Tannenbaums changed my life.
Read Moby Dick.
Sing anything by The Red Hot Chili Peppers as often as you can.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I wrote radio serials that were broadcast all over Afghanistan. They encouraged local nationals to recognize and turn in terrorists to their military forces. There were 34 segments in all, each running about 5-8 minutes in length. If you don't know what a radio serial is, think "Lone Ranger" or "Green Hornet."
Teach, Learn, Share
Let's have fun. Enjoy the moment. Embrace the suck. Laugh often, love more. When you get tired, go 'till you are exhausted then go some more. Push the limits and test boundaries. Explore! Challenge! Pursue! Atari!
