About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My "mission" in this life is to connect with my fellow people around the world. I believe in our ability to transform and evolve through our collective awareness and intention. Honoring our uniqueness and our shared humanity.

ABOUT ME

I live in beautiful Humboldt County California, among the redwoods, alongside the magical NW coast with it's coves and tidepools. I am blessed to live in a strong community of open-minded, open-hearted folk and thankful that my two daughters, Tehya and Rhiannon, were raised here. (They're my best friends, too.) I am 45 yrs old, and figure when I"m 90 I'll be glad I didn't think I was old way back then! I love to play, to party, to participate, to be an activist, an adventurer, a nurturer, and a constant learner.

I spent many years as a restoration nursery manager/owner working on fisheries, wetlands, grasslands, botanical gardens, waste-water wetlands, etc. Now I want to focus on sustainable community developement and teach/learn with the coming generations. Urban gardening, nutrition, and building livable communities are my passions these days.

My daughter Rhiannon and I are off to Guatemala and Chiapas for our first travels outside the U.S.!! We hope to work on sustainable community development there and learn from the beautiful people of the Mayan highlands. Our trip will be for 3 months! When we get back, we'll be ready to host couchsurfers here in our humble casa.

PHILOSOPHY

Speak Truth to Power! Power within, not power over! Hope has two beautiful daughters, anger and courage. Anger at the way things are (all too often), and the courage to change these conditions. I believe in the evolution of consciousness. I see it happening every moment. Intention creates reality. Let's co-create great realities!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've been kind of the hostel-mom for the last 8 months. Our little house has been rather full, so I haven't hosted couchsurfers.com folks as much as local young folks transitioning to the next step. In June, when I get back from Guatemala, I'll have plenty of room for CS'ers. I haven't surfed yet, but hope to on my travels.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've always opened my home to travelers, extended family and friends. I usually stay in hostels when I travel to Portland or San Francisco but would like to start meeting my fellow CS'ers on these trips, and future trips abroad.

Interests

Independent media, good films, working with informed active people to move the world on to a new path, MUSIC --indie, alternative/experimental, world, alt. bluegrass, punk, latin, rock. I love to go to shows, love to dance. Love to party, drink beer, but not too too much. Exploring the beaches, esp. at low tide. Hiking, gardening, cooking/eating great healthy local food.
