About Me
CURRENT MISSION
make the most of having just enough time, money and health simultaneously
ABOUT ME
I'm a mostly retired technical editor. This summer my first book is coming out--a kids' picture book--the very first under my own name! Not such a big departure, as I am the mother or step-mother of 7 sons and various foster and god-children, and grandma of 9. Though I've slowed down a bit, I still like to read widely, keep up with friends, take walks, cook and listen to jazz as often as possible.
PHILOSOPHY
"Do unto others...". I'm somewhat uncomfortable with organized religions, but believe that there are many mysteries out there.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Happy host and active surfer. About to take my second major couch surfing trip through Europe, spring of 2013. Surfers who'd like to stay in Dublin should get in touch and stay with my husband.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I'm still relatively new, but so far it's been grand. My single host and all our surfers here have been interesting, smart, fun, comfortable to be around. Keep coming!

Music, Movies, and Books
Fond of movies, especially non-Hollywood ones. Jazz and the blues are the soundtrack to my life--have it on the radio or the internet as much as possible. Read voraciously and eclectically: mysteries, cookbooks, travel memoirs, history and science. Sci-fi as a genre is not on my list of favorites, yet "A Canticle for Leibowitz" is one of my favorites. Go figure.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In 1980, when the planet still had some polar ice-caps, hitchhiked roundtrip from New York to Alaska with my then 13-year-old son. We hiked up into hills and looked down as the fog lifted off an ENORMOUS glacier (Mendenhall). WOW!! (Returned with 3 generations in 2001, and it was just a huge pile of dirty slush. Sigh.)
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm a fairly dab hand in the kitchen, happy to teach or learn there. Particularly interested in tasting local specialties. Can help with speaking or writing in English.
My husband is a devoted sailor (racer) and a designer/builder of any sort of wind or people-powered high performance wooden boats up to about 20 feet long. He's happy to kibbitz with anyone building a wooden boat, or to teach the basics of sailing or sailboat racing tactics. He HATES to travel, but is a very bright and friendly fellow when you come to southwestern New Hampshire.
