About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Build a lifesize pinata of justin bieber and light it in a bonfire. Then sit around it and sing and dance with all my friends and family and have a jolly good time, laughing, drinking, singing, playing music.
ABOUT ME
I'm Wouter, my age oddly tends to vary depending on what year we're in.
If there's anything I enjoy most, it's without the doubt the company of friends. Having a drink, a nice meal, a good laugh, a nice chat, that's lovely.
My second love is music. I play guitar, bass, and keyboards. I love to lock myself up to write music, for which I will now blatantly place some advertisement. I've had the privilege of travelling to Holland, France, and China (ftw?!?!) to play music, which have been unforgettable in every way.

I somehow managed to get a degree in maritime engineering and now find myself taking care of ships that work in the offshore wind industry. The best thing about it is that it takes me to new and exotic places (like the north of Holland where they have lots of sheep and nothing much else worth mentioning).
As everyone else here I love to travel as well. I quite recently bought a motorcycle after bingewatching Ewan McGregor (presumably my unspoken fourth love after travelling) his "The Long Way ...", along with other tour diaries, and now dream of driving around the world. Though something like a VW transporter or a Landrover would no doubt be more practical...
PHILOSOPHY
Enjoy life, be impulsive, spontaneous, don't think too much... think just enough
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have given refuge to several bands that were on tour and needed a place to crash. We covered the floor with mattresses, and that's where the following bands had an amazing night's sleep/shower/coffee OD. Also non-musical souls of course.
I love to hear stories, even though my memory is a siphon and I'm not the most profound storyteller myself. Still I love to listen.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Meeting people I met once in one place, 5000 miles away in a completely different time completely different country... It amazes me how s!all the world is sometimes. Or how big coincidences are!
I've toured in China with a band I play in.
I learned how to ski in 6 days when I was 28, mastering black slopes which surprised everyone especially the kindergarten crew from day one. Though most likely I'm probably shit at skiing again after a year of inactivity.
I allowed 3 french people to order 5 Beijing ducks for one meal and now cannot see or hear the words Beijing duck anymore.
Teach, Learn, Share
I started learning Japanese, Russian, and Spanish and failed to complete any of them due to my frantic work life. These are still on my bucket list, amongst others.
I think I'm horrible at teaching, due my anal tendency to go into detail. Other people tend to agree. So that's something extra to learn I suppose.
What I Can Share with Hosts
A cup of happiness? A deeply philosophical debate?
