ABOUT ME

My friends say I'm "a grounded intellectual," "Internet savvy," "happy-go-lucky," "good storyteller," "felt like I've known him my whole life after meeting him twice (i.e. 'personable')", "thinker" ... I have pretty good friends. Also, I'd like to add that I love hosting people and have met almost all of my friends in Pittsburgh through couchsurfing.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

One time I hosted a guy who decided that since I'm a Christian he should write me a confession note of every bad thing he had ever done. It was like three pages long and was written in really formal, detailed language. He stuck it in my couch cushions and I found it a few days later, around the time his next host messaged me to say that he had caught him stealing from a pizza shop... it's been uphill from there.

Interests

I love traveling. Some people spend extra money on food or clothes or whatever, but if I a little bit extra, I'm like, where can I go have an adventure? I also juggle and am working on a PhD in rhetoric.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

After living in a train station in Kazakhstan for a few days, I helped a French woman studying Tibetan philosophy get across the border into China. The guards at the border were interrogating her about her weird diagrams and I helped translate, since she couldn't understand their Chinese and they couldn't understand her English. I wasn't much help with phrases like "the divinity of justice," but eventually they let us through at which point she pulled a signed picture out of her shirt of her spiritual master, which she had hidden there worried she would've been denied entrance if the guards knew about it. And then we went into China.
