About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Build on the beautiful community here at home that we can share with the world.
ABOUT ME
I love exploring new places, spending at least SOME time outside every day, meeting new people and sharing stories.
I would choose to drive somewhere over flying ANY day, as long as it's not on the other side of the ocean, and as a result, I have clocked many miles on my dear old van. Unfortunately I've had to ditch my van at my parents place since they live on the other side of the country, but my partner and I now have a little sidecar that we named Ponyo/Brumhilda which we use to get around in all types of weather (minus the snow).
PHILOSOPHY
"Take these wings and learn to fly,
to the highest mountains in the sky"
You can go anywhere and do just about anything, with a little help and support from the right people and experiences.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
My partner and I finally own a house that we can host people at on beautiful Haida Gwaii. I've surfed quite a lot, around the US, up to the Yukon, around Eastern Canada and right through Poland, Ukraine and Kazakhstan.
I would also say that we do a lot of "unofficial" (aka not through CS) couchsurfing in our community. We often take in hitchhikers, guests, friends friends and anybody who needs a place to sleep. A very open door policy I'd say!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Surfed a few couches on a roadtrip out in Eastern Canada and a had a fabulous time!
Have had a few surfers stay with me in my Kingston home (which no longer exists, sadly).
Surfed a few couches along the way to San Francisco and met some truly amazing people (some I still keep in touch with now and even met up with again at BM2011).
Stayed in Whitehorse, Yukon with a fellow couchsurfer and introduced my travelling partner to so many hilarious firsts (e.g. driving).
Made it (almost) around the world without flying, and surfed along the way in Amsterdam, Warsaw, Kyiv and Almaty.

Music, Movies, and Books
Non-fiction books
All music
I have a soft-spot for low-budget romantic comedies ... they get me every time. But I also enjoy "quality" cinema too ...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Taught a class of four kids in a remote and isolated community in BC, sounds easy right?
ALMOST made it around the world without flying ... does it sound less amazing because I didn't complete the mission? Made it from Victoria, BC (Canada) to Hong Kong ... just one more ocean crossing left but alas Haida Gwaii called my name and I had to go.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach: Knitting & crocheting! I'm also a great baker.
Learn: How to tie knots!
Share: Stories
What I Can Share with Hosts
