About Me

CURRENT MISSION

mess up brains, extend the playground

ABOUT ME

I'm interested in many different things: music, history, science, (doing) sports, literature, movies, travelling (no need to mention that on CS) and other stuff. So generally, eager to learn.
In fact I am not very fond of making personal descriptions about myself, so I will cut it short.
I'm quite social, but not a good small-talker; I prefer to talk about a common interest than about our occupations (although it's an almost obligatory start of conversation, and of getting to know a guest or a host).
The qualities I value most in people are honesty, critical (nuanced) thinking and a quality that has no real name, being the opposite of self-centredness.

PHILOSOPHY

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I (or we) have hosted a lot through the years, but in the past years mostly via acquaintances, friends of friends or by hosting bands that play gigs in Ghent. the search algorithm doesn't favour my profile; most probably because we're not SO close to the center, and because I didn't use it much during last travels (which were more improvised).
I've been hosted many times during this last decade as well, which I'm very grateful for; and I do my best showing this gratitude during my stay (by adapting to the pace of life of my host, and by cooking for instance)

I mostly read non-fiction these days. It's quite diverse.
To give examples, I'm currently reading, chapter by chapter (march 2019): Behave from Robert Sapolsky (neuroscience); collected essays, journalism and letters from Orwell; The Republic from Plato; the history of Western Philosophy of Bertrand Russell (in Dutch); Les grands mythes de l'histoire de Belgique, des Fladres et de la Wallonie.
Once I finish 2 of these, I'll start reading 'extension du domaine de la lutte' from Houellebecq and 'La peur du peuple-Agoraphobie et agoraphilie politique' from Dupuis-Déri.
I'm looking forward to travelling more to be able to read more!!
