About Me

Have had a lot of amazing Couchsurfing experiences in the last 8 years!

Unfortunately, I am most likely unable to host, as I bounce back and forth between travel and my apartment in Hollywood, CA and taking care of my grandmother near Fort Lauderdale, FL. But, you're always welcome to try to message me. I might be able to meet up, or at least give Travel Tips on Amy of the over 40 countries I've visited :)

Cheers,

Tara

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I was lucky to experience Couchsurfing first on a trip to Spain. The hospitality I was shown was literally unbelievable to me! The fact that I was given keys to someone's apartment seconds after meeting them as they were on the way out the door was shocking an amazing example of trust in humanity. The fact that I was staying for free became secondary to the people and experiences they shared. This inspired me to get involved hosting as soon as I returned home. I met even more great people in the community and have made friends that I have visited with multiple times in multiple countries.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

All kinds of great ones! One of the best parts is having access to a local tour guide who can cut through the normal tourist stuff and give you their version of their city. I've also had the keys handed over to a great Apartment in San Sebastian where, although the host wasn't able to hang after the 1st night, we had our own room and bathroom for 4 nights to explore nearby towns and that was great too!

Interests

I love to travel (shocking!) and experience new places, cultures, people and food & drinks!

Music, Movies, and Books

Just finished reading a great book called "The Seamstress" about cangaceiros in Brazil. I loved Confederacy of Dunces. Love folkly music.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I love all my trips and experiences, but I recently climbed Mount Nyrigongo in the DRC and even thought it was one of the hardest things I've ever done, the view of an active lava crater at the top was amazing and worth it (said from the comfort of my couch :)
