About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Save for travel and pursue learning opportunities. Fight the insurance baddies. Love my partners, family and friends to the best of my ability.
ABOUT ME
I am nonbinary trans and use they/them pronouns; please respect my gender by making an effort to use the correct pronouns. I also identify as bisexual and polyamorous. I'm friendly, open and eager to invest in people, which does often war with the instinct to be a crowd-shy homebody. I love people, vegetarian food, music and life in general and I'm at my best when climbing a steep learning curve. I volunteer in community theatre, fair trade retail and ecumenical/interfaith social justice work.
PHILOSOPHY
'Have courage and be kind.' ~Cinderella
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
As I currently live with my parents, I'm unable to host, but I would love to meet up with you if need a companion for adventures or just want to relax with some good food.
Additionally, I am basically always up for the Legislature tour because it's interesting and kind of adorable.
Interests
Fiddle and folk music, piano, sign language, portraiture photography, theatre, food. I've lived in many different places in my short life and being homeschooled gave me plenty of free time to try new things. I'm an enthusiastic reader and learner, and much of my life has been spent in the back yard, back river, back coastline.
I basically never shut up about social and political issues; here in Canada we are in something of a crisis of democracy and it's fucking terrifying. There was never a more exciting time to be young in this country, that's for sure. I'm also interested in how people's faiths shape and inform their social views, how systems impact the people within them and how we can shift social paradigms.

Music, Movies, and Books
I enjoy animated children's films, well-performed Shakespeare, and the occasional French film like Amelie or Adele Blanc-Sec; I will listen to just about anything provided it's not overly twangy, crashing, or harsh; I like non-fiction from Oliver Sacks, GK Chesterton and the like, and classical literature in the vein of Wilkie Collins, Jane Austen, or Jules Verne, generally preferring my fiction to be gentle but not too sappy. I like my entertainment to open my mind to new ideas and make me think.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Spent two years in a Nisga'a village in northern BC, immersed in the culture and land and began to understand what it is to be a visible minority (though never, of course, how it is to be a person of colour or the victim of racism).
Teach, Learn, Share
I love ideas, and will happily talk about just about anything, learn all I can, and teach what I know. Open to jam sessions, photographic expeditions, or whatever random idea captures our imaginations. I want to learn more French and German. I often teach fiddle, sign language basics and the art of photography.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can help with cooking and baking; I'm gluten free and I love to talk about the ins and outs of gf living. If there is a fiddle or piano lying about I'd be happy to play for you, or sing.
