ABOUT ME

blue eyed, red (some call it strawberry blonde..?). born in la, raised in atlanta, school at university of georgia, british literature. lived in istanbul for 4 years, 1 year poland: teaching english. back in th u.s. now, i'm 37, with a bro out in the DC area, one in chicago, one it boulder, and a sis in la. so, i'm from a large family: sharing is in my blood. so, sure you can have my couch if the astrals align.

PHILOSOPHY

hm. kind of believe in god, but definitely not religion. was raised to be religious, but...well, ascribe to the idea the we live to experience, and all unexperienced actions will be revealed to us in death. some sort of unified, collective thought. reavealing all past, present and future....hell, you don't wanna hear this malarchy, do you?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

jordan; kurds in shanli urfa, turkey; bar-owner in amsterdam; countless parties at uni (sometimes they were friends:) ula in poznan (well, all the girls there...anna, anna and ewa as well!) and sascha in krakow...but then, maybe that was hospitality? greg in duluth, mn (not a couchsurfer, though....met through mark bratlie)

Interests

travel for sure. guitar (jazz, rock... huge phish fan), rock climbing, outdoors, writing, reading...most things with -ing in them. for the better part at least. and of course enjoying the best of SF!

Music, Movies, and Books

movie? for some reason, pleasantville, but caddyshack and fletch are keepers for sure.
Music: definitely phish. but also grateful dead, panic, miles davis, stan getz, pat methaney...you get the picture
books...big graham greene and nabokov fan. loved the master and margarita. gogol's dead souls was a masterpiece for me. and there's also a special place for corelli's mandolin and 100 years of solitude. if only velisarios....

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

i saw a monkey smoke a ciggy in laos, and look with simian hatred to the masters. i wouldn't have wanted to give it a gun. the joint was one thing, but seeing hatred...that was creepy.

Teach, Learn, Share

if you're surfing, offer to cook, clean...hell, don't offer, just do it (clean at least....not everyone likes vegemite and pickle grilled cheese sandwiches-chris!!!). that's even better than offering.
don't surf for a free place to stay...that'll just translate as simply being a 'freeloader'. i think 'couchsurfring' should be more than just a free ride: something between temporary companionship and exploratory foundations. we can examine new bases to our community and that starts with knowledge outside our community. couchsurfers can bring that to you (other surfers). this is my 'couchsurfing'.
