About Me

CURRENT MISSION

tiding up my life

ABOUT ME

I am an animator/graphic designer/whatever residing in Beirut. I feel Arabic, but also European (I grew in Paris). I like to live in urban spaces, and thus I generally prefer third-world countries, like India or Turkey (or Lebanon of course), to the tidiness of Europe, though I do appreciate tidiness too. I work a lot and I enjoy tremendously what I do, whatever it is I am doing.

PHILOSOPHY

I try to stay positive. I'm mostly a happy person.
I think this world could be way better with just a few adjustments, but since I do not know what they are, I just try to do my personal best and be the most humane person possible, by judging as little as I can, and helping as much as I can (without sacrificing myself).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I do my part, when I can.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I crashed at my friend's place in Tokyo because I hadn't enough money for the hotel. It was really great. I also crashed at other people's places all over the world. It's always better than any hotel.

Interests

I am interested in just about everything that exists (or not). Drawing, biology, science, literature, human relations, video games, fixing stuff, sports, etc. Anything that can be taught, learned, improved, holds great interest to me. I aim to try to know everything before I die. Not a reachable goal, but an enjoyable one.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: all of it
Books: almost all of it. I don't really like Paulo Cohelo, David Brown (I still read them though), but apart from that I read almost anything I can find, from biographies to fictions, and also some Noam Chomsky, some Hubert Reeves, etc...
Movies: I rarely watch a movie until the end. I see scenes of most of them, because I need to stay informed (my work is related to the movie industry), but rarely does a movie hook me until the end, maybe because I work in that field. I usually watch a cartoon entirely though, even when it's crappy.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Depends on what amazing means. Maybe living through war is amazing for some people, but for us Lebanese it's part of everyday life. I've seen some amazing stuff in Tokyo that are probably really common to Japanese people. And the really most amazing thing I've done I will not tell here.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a very skilled teacher (or at least I like to think of myself as one). I can teach about everything related to film-making or storytelling. Scenarios, shooting, drawing, storyboarding, writing, animating, dialogues, etc. I also like to think as myself as a good advisor on human matters, because I try as much as I can to have a distant outsider look on anything that happens, and I am able to shift point of view easily. I am also able to help people find strength to do things they are reluctant to do, and be (somewhat) happy to do it. Doesn't work everytime, but has worked a fair number of times.
I teach character design and anatomy at university, and I've given workshops about ergonomy and web design
I have a lot to learn about men-women relationships, geography, history, and basically everything else.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Anything.

I am somewhat shy, very discreet. I am interested in people, but never trespass. If I feel you want to be left alone, I'll do my best to make my presence as light as possible. If I feel you want to talk, I'll be happy to. Making friends is always an option, and if I stay more than a day, I'll definitely do my part of the house chores, or if it is not desirable/necessary, pay my stay in some way. I can't cook to save my life though! It's a bummer. I'll learn, promise.
