About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To not just see the world, but taste it.

ABOUT ME

I like having fun and learning about the world. I'm just a student trying to explore! Currently, I'm on exchange in Edinburgh from my home University in DC. I have mixed heritage from all of the place. My dad is from Vigo, Spain and my mom is from Cuba. I've lived most of my life in the USA, but I can never quite pinpoint whether I feel more American, Spanish, or Latin American. It's a fun mix and definitely has made me more open minded and excited to learn about other people. Anyways, here I am freezing in Scotland! The main reason I joined this website is to make the most of this travel opportunity. I think the best kind of tourism is the one when you totally immerse yourself; when you learn a bit about yourself and about the people around you. So I'm on a budget, but I'll make the most with what I have, trying new foods and playing football along the way.

PHILOSOPHY

Enjoying every moment is really important. It's very cliche, but still underestimated. That's how you make the most of your friends and acquaintances and of where you are. The kind of stop and go, photographic moment tourism doesn't really appeal to me. I more want to hang out in a space and just feel how a city works. It's corny, but it's the best when you can do this with your best friends and laugh along the way.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Couchsurfing is an an incredible website! I have hosted a few guests with my girlfriend while in Edinburgh, and am excited to host more wherever it is I go next.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I find that couch-surfing is an incredible way to be reminded of all the genuine generosity in the world. I've only been in Europe for a semester, but the few people I've hosted and the people that have hosted me, both on and off this website, have been amazing, We've shared laughs, drinks, and stories. There's nothing better than that, right?

Interests

Culinary Tourism, music, sports, beer, and combining all four. I also have passion for movies...I love watching them and talking about them and I wish I could memorize quotes. Football is definitely one of the msot important parts of my life. Not in a crazy, hooligan kind of way, but I love how it is played all over the world and it connects so many people. I also love watching Spain play with my dad. That's the best thing in the world for me.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a huge Academy Award lover, so movies are a big deal. They're just fun to watch so I enjoy every category really...from romantic comedy to mind-twisting drama. My favorites have to be Lord of the Rings and A Beautiful Mind.

Music I love. I enjoy a bit of everything because every moment calls for a different type. I love Kanye West's classics and 90s fun pop just because it's so nostalgic, but at the same time I love me some classic rock.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hitch-hiking from Edinburgh to Morocco. Now that was an adventure. That's when I learned how sincere people really can be. On that trip, our group was taken in by an incredible woman in the France. She fed us, gave us a place to sleep, and packed us sandwiches for the next day. We met her family, shared stories, and played with her 5 little kids. I can only aspire to be that hospitable.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to learn about anything, especially different football clubs and foods. All the simplest, taken for granted bits and pieces of different cultures is the most fun part.

As for teaching...I prefer a balanced conversation where both sides are learning a bit. Where I come from, what I study, or simple observations that we have all made about how the world works can make up some fascinating conversations. And it's not always fun to agree. A solid discussion can include some bickering as long as we all respect each other in the end.
