Overview
About Me
I am a lover of history, (particularly French history), but I also enjoy politics philosophy. I enjoy deep discussions even if it's between myself and a stranger, because that's sometimes where the best friendships come from. I am a historian by schooling; an English teacher by trade; and a writer by the fact that I have a pen, some paper, and always a lot of free time.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've come to France to see new places and meet new people; not just in the places I've studied and worked, but places I hope my free time takes me.

Music, Movies, and Books
Because I played the trumpet since I was 12, I have a strong attachment to classical music. I don't have any particular favorite genres or artists. My rule is: if I like the lyrics and the backing track, I'll listen to it.
Since I love history I will most likely go see any film based on real events (I will never turn down a film on military history). I find that history allows me to enjoy films on subjects time periods that I have little to no knowledge in.
I've spent most of my life in books on history, politics, and philosophy. I really do need to get back to classic literature. Sure it's nice to make references and jokes around movies and television, but I'd like have that emotional attachment to a book whose course isn't already set in stone.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I was in Paris in 2012 during study abroad and I was on the political scene during the presidential campaign.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love teaching English because it has become a necessity in many domains of public life. (But I will admit, since I love French, I think the Académie Française could do a better job lol)
Even though fluency would take years, I would like to learn other languages just to be able to communicate to some degree with citizens of other countries. (I find making the effort to speak the local language is a sign of respect).
I am willing to share my singing voice lol. I absolutely love to sing. Anyone who knows me can always find a story where I end up singing.
