About Me
CURRENT MISSION
My current mission is to walk everywhere, as far as I can go, in every direction, and to meet loads of interesting, creative people on the way.
ABOUT ME
I'm extremely curious. I ask lots of questions and I like exploring places off the beaten path. I love being outside, though I'm pale enough you can't really tell. I play guitar (not amazingly well though) and I adore doing origami. I can cook sort of alright, but I love experimenting with different foods. I'd love to meet more people with whom I can have great, goofy conversations, and who have exciting experiences to share. If you have an oven, I will make you pumpkin pie. It is my favorite food in the world.
PHILOSOPHY
My goal in life is to never like the person I was more than the person I am.
I live life to be happy right now.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have hosted and have been hosted, but now I'm mainly looking for new friends around Tokyo or Yokohama (where I'm currently living). In particular, I'd love to find people to hike with.
Update: I have tentatively decided not to host overnight for a while. I would still really like to meet new friends in this area, and I may make exceptions for certain surfers, but I can't host as often now. Note that for me to consider you for surfing, at the very least you MUST have a fully filled out profile, with plenty of information. Sorry, but I can't really risk hosting people not knowing anything about them.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I stayed with a number of different people in Switzerland and Italy at the beginning of my first backpacking trip across Europe, and had a lovely time all around. I've now hosted a few times since I've been in Japan.
Interests
Guitar, origami, exploring (everything!), silly puns, good food, big hills, open fields, rain, sunshine, and reading of all sorts. I also really like riding in cars with people I barely know, listening to their music.

Music, Movies, and Books
I don't love movies, but I have a few favorites. I loved Amelie. Generally I want to be outside doing something neat instead of sitting around watching something neat be done.
I listen to lots of different music. I love alternative rock, a cappella music, people like Imogen Heap and Eisley (can't figure out what genre that is), and (secretly) opera. I'm generally open to listening to most things with someone else though, as I love the atmosphere it creates of someone else's interests.
I read all sorts of books, and while I love suggestions, every time I go to the library to pick up suggestions, I get distracted and end up getting all sorts of other books instead.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Climbed up to a glacier in Zermatt, Switzerland. It took me hours, but now whenever I'm facing something difficult I just think to myself, "I've climbed to a glacier! I can do anything!"
Teach, Learn, Share
Sorry, I just can't make myself proselytize to people I don't know yet. It would be foolish of me to say I had so much to teach. Plus, I'm a little more reserved than that. That said, my job title is English teacher...so if you need help practicing English, I'm all over that.
