Hey guys! I'm Darien and I love to travel. I know its probably a cliché thing to say in a site literally about traveling, but there you go, travel is my passion. I find that few other activities inspire me quite as much as traveling.

Architecture and Aviation are two other fields that I'm also very passionate about. My week days are spent being an Architect designing transportation infrastructure. As an avid aviation fan at heart, and I hope to be able to contribute to the aviation field someday. Maybe design an airport or something!

There are nearly 200 countries in the world and I have been to 51 so far. I have been to all 6 permanently inhabited continents of the world, Antarctica being the 7th and last continent I have yet to visit. It is one of my long term goals to one day go to complete this country list.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love seeing the world, meeting new people and learning about new things. Every new destination surprises me, the fellow travelers I meet along the way become special connections in one form or the other, and every picture I take and later look back onto reminds me of the beautiful experiences I had once upon a time.

Throughout my time here in Couchsurfing, I have gotten to meet some of the best people in the world, and I very much look forward to meeting even more amazing people from this community.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I generally like pop music; anything on the Top 100 list, I probably will listen to. I also like EDM. Being fluent in Mandarin Chinese and Filipino also means that I also listen to their songs. I can thus karaoke in any one of those 3 languages.

Movies: I generally like sappy rom-coms and morbid horror movies. It's a weird combination, I know. On the other hand, I'm not really into movies with ridiculously complicated plots, but I will watch it if you recommend it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Bungee jumping in Macau, China on the Skytower at 233 meters / 764 feet high (equivalent to about a 60 story building). The moment of truth was scary, but it was also exhilarating unlike anything else. Everyone ought to try bungee jumping at least once in their life!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd be happy to teach and share with you skills and interests I'm knowledgeable about. I could also teach you the languages I know, among other things.

I'm a very open minded dude, and I'm always ready and excited for my next challenge. I look forward to meeting and learning new things from you.

What I Can Share with Hosts

As my guest in New York, you can expect my time and attention whenever possible and whenever you need it. On the weekends, if I am able to, I'd love to tour you around the city and show you my favorite places. If you'd prefer to travel alone, then that's cool with me too. Fast paced or slow activities, it's all good and the same to me. We can be walking around all day sightseeing, or just relaxing and enjoying beer together, or both!

As a traveler to your city, I am truly appreciative of anything you're offering to me. I always enjoy meeting new people and from just meeting up and hanging out or staying with you in your home, I am thankful for your time and hospitality..
