Overview
About Me
We are two girls from Germany, both 18 and about to do our Interrail during September (travelling through Europe by train). We are Johanna and Xenia and we live in Dresden, Germany and know each other for a very long time due to our common interest in music. We both play the violin and got to know each other in our orchestra.
Johanna just graduated and succeded her A-levels. Johanna will take the next year starting after the Interrail to orientate herself and to find out what she wants to do in her future.
Xenia has already succeeded her A-levels last year in 2017 and did a voluntary ecological year starting last september and ending this year in august, and will start to study mechanical engineering in october.
We decided to do an Interrail because we are interested in getting to know new culture, new people, new opinions, new food, new music, new everything. We are very open-minded, like to talk and exchange and know what it means to be respectful. Especially when it comes to environment we are likely to rethink, get to learn new perspectives and try to change our way of living.
We want this month to be a month full of new experiences, in which we learn how to deal with such an amount of responsibility and how to get along far away from home, finding ourselves.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
We thought it would be a lot more beautiful experience to stick with people who know the cities we want to visit and can recommend us interisting places and give us tips and tell us something from their own experience. We think we will get to know the places a lot better when we get to know it from locals.
We are open to exchange opinions and stories with you, and it is very interesting and fun to meet new people from all corners of Europe.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Xenia: During my voluntary ecological year I have learned a looooot. I have been working in the Orchid Laboratory and in the wild bird rescue station. I got to grow up a wild brown hare (rabbit) from very little to very big and it was such a beautiful feeling when I could let him free again. Additionally I got to deal with situations like the death of animals or very hurted animals and therefore gained knowledge in the field of veterinary medicine. It was a year full of new experiences, sadness, happiness, tears, sweat, and stress. But in the end, it was so far one of the best years of my life. :)
Johanna: When you show other people respect and treat them in a good way, they almost will always treat you in the same way. As you sow, so you shall reap.
