About Me

Hi there! I’m a fresh university graduate who loves adventures and meaningful human connections. I studied music performance and environmental science in university, and am passionate about both. I currently work as a cello teacher and freelance musician, and enjoy many genres of music (especially contemporary and trad folk!) Looking after the environment is something I hold very close to my heart, and I enjoy getting out in nature and being mesmerized by everything around me.

I don’t really drink these days and I don’t smoke, but sometimes will partake in recreational drugs like psychedelics. To be honest, I enjoy being sober and human connection is the best drug there is! I am clean and tidy, and am respectful of the space I am sharing with other people. Having sharehoused, I know what it is like to live with people with different needs to me, and communicate/respect each others’ boundaries.

Politically I am progressive, I care deeply about environmental and social issues. I feel the most safe around people with similar world views: compassionate people who believe in science.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love connecting with people and making new friends. I have befriended many backpackers in Australia and have found them to be the some of the most genuine, creative, kind, and fun-loving people I have met. I have loved sharing deeply personal stories and going on spontaneous adventures with backpackers visiting my country, and would love more experiences like those! I am now getting ready for my first international backpacking trip in Europe, and hope to meet my people halfway across the world.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love music! I enjoy jamming out with others and also enjoy seeing live music. I enjoy many genres of music, but really enjoy folk music and contemporary/experimental music. I love folk music from around the world, and enjoy learning about traditional music from various parts of the world. I really enjoy folk music festivals. I am a classically trained musician, so of course I also still enjoy classical music, but these days I find myself liking contemporary or experimental music with “classical” roots. I also like electronic dance music, especially fast and heavy tracks that are fun to move to! I play the cello and a little bit of banjo and fiddle.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can show you around in my favorite wild places, and teach you about the local plants and animals we see, some of which are things I have learned in my environmental science degree.

I would love to learn anything! In particular, I would love to learn some folk tunes, and any music knowledge. I am new to rock climbing and bouldering but I would love to learn what it’s like to climb outdoors!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my music knowledge, or if you have access to a cello, I can teach you cello! If you enjoy playing folk music, I can teach you my favorite tunes on the fiddle or banjo as well. I also speak Chinese and Japanese, so can do a language exchange if that’s something you’re learning. I can share my knowledge about Australia and the local ecosystem/environment.
