About Me

Ni hao! I'm Daisy from Shanghai, China. I worked as an English teacher for 5 years, now having a long journey with my friend Coco, a journalist on real estate, itinerary being Fiji, Kiribati, Samoa, NZ, Cook islands and finally we'll spend a year in Australia working holiday, so mainly around the Pacific this and next year.

I'm easy-going, optimistic and full of positive energy!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Travelling enables people to meet different people, experience new things and gain knowledge as well as new perspectives on various things. Couchsurfing is a great media to get in touch with native people and living ways.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy watching old classic movies more, favorite one is 1900.
Usually, I could easily be moved to tears by the episodes. As long as the character cries, I cry.... XD
Books on psychology, biography and management are what I often read.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I launched a Mangrove Planting Action and a donation in Kiribati, helping preventing this tiny, poor but extremely beautiful country from the sea level rising influence.

Teach, Learn, Share

It's not common for Chinese people traveling in backpacker's way or having a gap year like many Western people. The majority of Chinese may favor enjoying a trip with tour groups, simply eating local specialties, taking photos at tourist sites, staying in bus and fancy hotels, etc., which is quite nice for old people, but I would love to experience traveling in a more distinct and local way, getting in contact, preferrably staying with local people, listening to their and their countries' stories.

My students are mostly over 18, to whom I especially desire to express the idea that--Chinese young generation is expected to be brave and creative enough to seek and enjoy their own new ways of living and studying. Too many of them and their families focus merely on University Entrance Examination, then getting into a good school, making money to purchase houses whose prices are now unbelievably high, etc., leading to excessive pressure but lacking simple and original happiness.

I update my travel experience, stories and what I have learned on my Chinese website, followed by thousands of people. I sincerely expect to have a positive influence on people around me.
