About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I am very curious, love to learn and meet new people. Always on the search, for what I don't know, i let you know when i found it.

ABOUT ME

Dear Csfriends, well how do I perceive myself?

Overall my curiosity is the driving force that keeps me moving. I’m a warm and always positive person with strong opinions about many different things, but always open to change or adapt these thanks to a nice dialogue with well-founded good rational arguments. Having a conversation that leads to a serious eye-opener is always extremely satisfying!
Also I am somebody who from kinder garden up to know always had quite some difficulties sitting still,..So moving around and being active is pretty much me,..than again I can be extremely lazy sometimes with the right person or just if I am in the mood.
I can enjoy the little things in live as well as the luxurious things,. I like nature, challenges, movies, sports and games! I enjoy reading a lot especially when travelling, so I red quite a bit,..on my reading menu are on a weekly basis : “The economist”, which I think is a must read if you have any interest in what is going on in the world. It gives you the underlying statistics, rationale that can help you understand the mechanics at work in a special country,..this in combination with visiting places gives me a great insight. Furthermore I enjoy reading biology/science books, political and bibliographies and history books. And then the odd books with funny titles I buy impulsively.
Impulsive and emotional driving action is also a part of me,..I guess I could best describe myself as deciding short-term emotionally and long term rationally. But I like to enjoy the moment,..hence I am a food lover,..I really do spend a lot of money on food,…having a second-rate meal is truly a waste. I like to put time and effort into eating,..this for the food and the company of eating with somebody.
I recently started making my bucket list,..it’s getting longer at a very fast rate. So far I’ve traveled to around 85 countries. Impossible to say which ones are my favorite? All in all I learned the place is not that important but it’s the people and the experiences with them that make a place memorable.

PHILOSOPHY

Always see things positivily. Helping other people doesn't cost anything most of the time, so do it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I started hosting people when I was living in Bruges in 2009, working in the chocolate business. I hosted for a while, but because of my job I was travelling a lot (about 150 days a year), and very irregular,. So it was pretty difficult hosting people after that. Was just too busy,…and I believe I should be able to be there for my guest to ensure that they enjoy their time.
Now I live in Antwerp, and I resigned from my job 2 weeks ago,..so I have time again, so back in business. Off course I’ll be travelling too,..I’m off on the 2/09 to the Philippines and Cambodia, than of to Turkey and back in Antwerp on the 7/11,..as of than I can host again.
I haven’t been surfing so far, will have my first experience in Istanbul soon,..but planning to do a lot of surfing in the coming years.
It is just such a better way of travelling if you stay with locals, I like to give that to people and I also want to experience.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I so far only hosted.Always enjoyed.
