A Chinese girl who is in love with the Middle East.

I lived in a small city in China called Zunyi until 18, then I moved to Moscow to study Russian language and politics for 5 years where I fell in love with Middle Eastern history (a bit random I know;), culture, and languages. Hence after finishing my study in Russia, I moved to the land that I'm deeply in love with, after spending a year in Alexandria, Egypt learning Arabic and living, I moved to Al Quds/Jerusalem where I am currently doing my MA in Islamic and Middle Eastern studies.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The reason why I was on CS the first place was purely because my first destination of solo traveling was Iran and I couldn't book a hotel due to sanctions. Later I discovered CS through a friend and decided to give it a try while I was in Iran, which turned out to be a better experience than I expected thanks to CS! I love the hospitality of people from CS when I travel and enjoy helping people when they travel to my city.

Music, Movies, and Books

I LOVE sad documentaries, I guess it's probably because I lived in Russia for too long that I need to be overwhelmed by sadness from time to time;)

As I mentioned above, I fell in love with the Middle East a few years ago, so now my favorite music type is Middle Eastern/North African traditional & remix, I've been listening to Habibifunk a lot these days, check it out if you are interested!

My book selections might be a bit weird. I'm very into reading people's dissertations on different topics especially Arab World, Islam and politics related. So if you are interested in any of those topics then we are gonna have a fun time together:)
