Overview
About Me
First, I DO NOT host people who do not host.
I've been a member of couchsurfing since 2004, which is when this site went live (and I was a member of other, similar sites in the late 1990s). I still believe in what couchsurfing was originally about: meeting and helping fellow travellers, sharing stories, experiences and making new friends. It seems like this site has evolved into a free hotel service, a way to "hook up" and more recently, a way for people to rent out rooms or couches, like Air BnB.
I'm a seasoned traveller who has set foot on all seven continents (completed that when I was 24. Now the goal is to hit every country in the world).
A bit about myself, I'm outgoing, open minded (for the most part), laid back, active, have a sarcastic sense of humour, love food, love animals and I don't smoke or do recreational drugs at all.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I was a member of other similar sites to CouchSurfing such as globalfreeloaders.com, hospitalityclub.org, and travelhoo.com in the late 1990s and joined Couchsurfing shortly after it started. I have met and stayed with people in all six continents (I have been to Antarctica but didn't couchsurf there).
For me, traveling is more than just taking pictures of tourist attractions. It's about meeting locals, engaging them in conversation and immersing myself into the culture and hopefully make new friends.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Most "amazing" thing travel wise... There's a lot.
2002 is the year when I reached my goal of setting foot on all seven continents. North America, Asia, Europe, Africa, Australia, South America, and Antarctica. Other memorable things include waking up on the beach in Pattaya with elephant foot prints just a few feet away from my head, scuba diving with sharks in Cairns, being attacked by penguins, hiking volcanoes in Guatemala, flying in a blimp an in a B-52 over my hometown, flying in a Hercules C-130 to Antarctica, bike riding to the Valley of the Kings in Luxor, visiting the Hezbollah "museum" in southern Lebanon, diving off a cliff in Jacmel, Haiti, stumbling across a dead person on the street while walking in Sao Paulo (that was an unpleasant surprise), swimming at the top of Victoria Falls, doing a self-drive safari in South Africa, I can go on.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Great conversation and an ongoing friendship, if things (hopefully) go well!
I have met lots of great people while hosting and being hosted, and I have become good friends with many of them.
