About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Traveling around the world (since October 2013) - trying to learn some Spanish in South America

ABOUT ME

World-traveling German - not ready to go back to a normal life!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Heard about it through a friend and have always wanted to try, be a part of the global family.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have not had any couchsurfing experiences yet. But I'm planning on going backpacking for about a year end of 2013 and this should give me some great experiences!

Reading Brian Thacker's "Sleeping Around: A Couch Surfing Tour" I am really starting to get excited about couchsurfing...

Interests

Sports were never my forte, but a few years ago I discovered hiking and trekking as an enjoyable way to challenge myself:
Along the trip I was lucky to be able do some amazing treks:
Annapurna Circuit, Nepal - 18 days
Several treks in New Zealand
Napali coast trek, Kauai'i, Hawaii
Salkantay trek, Cusco, Peru

Although (or maybe because) I never had a pet myself, I have a deep love for dogs and especially cats. If you have four-legged friends at home, it might challenge my attention towards my host...

I am interested in the culture and cuisine of the countries I am currently in. That being said: I eat anything!
Want to challenge me ;)?
Not necessarily my best but strangest dishes were:
Pig brain soup, Myanmar - Various insects, Thailand - cow stomache soup, Mexico

Music, Movies, and Books

Having played piano as long as I can remember, I have a devotion towards classical music (Baroque through late Romantic period). I have a wide knowledge about classical music repertoire and composers which I am happy to share.
I also played Alto-Saxophone for a couple of years - although I never practiced as much as I should have.... So I have some insight into Jazz.

I love to read. I would like to read more frequently though...
I read pretty much any type of book and usually follow friends' recommendations for books.
Do you know goodreads.com? It is a "social book reading" website: a Facebook for book-lovers. I use this to see what my friends are reading and keep a list of books I have read and I want to read.

I stopped watching regular TV a long time ago. Since then I love my US TV series... I can't even say how many different series I have watched over the last 10 years. Probably too many.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

trekking through nepal, learning new cultures and languages along the way...

Teach, Learn, Share

Before leaving for this trip around the world I was selling fruits. Not on a market stand though - a little bigger scale. I can make amazing fruit salads and answer all your questions about what to eat and what to avoid.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Bolivia, Cambodia, Denmark, Fiji, Finland, France, Greece, India, Italy, Laos, Mexico, Myanmar, Nepal, New Zealand, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Samoa, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand

Countries I’ve Lived In

Germany, United States
