About Me

CURRENT MISSION

moving towards a brand new stage of life

ABOUT ME

I was born and raised in a small city in Southeast China while I possess half of the Northern blood. Went to Hong Kong at the age of 18 and grew up into the adult world there, and started travelling about two years ago. Travel ranks my ultimate obsession and my prime way to find out who I am.

Some people say I'm complicated, which might not be a common comment on someone in her early 20s; that's probably because I listen more than I talk, and I tend to think a lot. The true story is, I love listening to people as I regard it a best way to learn and to get to know them; I think much when thinking is needed while I rely on my intuition most of the time. So the usual impression I have on others are no more than illusions. And as I grow older, I realise it really hard to build up my own image while now it is still in formation.

PHILOSOPHY

Philosophy is such a 'big' term which always makes me think of a book that I'd say I'm still on my way to develop it. Things that I hold on to, which may later form the cornerstone of the book of my personal philosophy, include: always have curiosity; perseverance; be yourself and stand out of the crowd, and be grateful for whatever you have.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My real surf/host experience is comparatively limited while I attend a lot of meetings/gatherings. I join the local CSer group when I travel to a new place and have found it an extremely effective way to get to know people there, which always leads to amazing local explorations. I do hope to organise some CS events in my vicinity if time or other conditions permit.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My CSing experience started from showing CSers around Hong Kong in 2009 to Hanoi, Vietnam and extended itself to England, Egypt and the Europe continent; now I'm continuing to have fun with it in Shanghai. I've done almost all kinds of CS activities: I surfed, hosted, travelled and acted as local guides. Each time I got a unique experience and made special friend, making it difficult to specify which type I enjoyed the most. The whole CSing experience has formed part of my life, becoming a story that I will be telling at all times.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy non-fiction movies and books that reflect their creators' own philosophy. As for music, I love bossa nova in particular. Someone said that's soothing music for stressed minds, and I do need it to save me when life gets tough sometimes.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Christmas Eve 2009. Going through Hanoi streets on a stranger's motor bike. I will never forget the city filled with lights, motorbikes and their gas and people with joy, and the connection between two strangers brought about by..life, or destiny, I'd say.
