About Me

Hey all! This is Yagiz, a funny guy (i suppose), 21 years old living in Istanbul, Turkey. My first experience with traveling began around 18 years ago after a couple years I was born. This situation did not appear by itself of course, it was my father. His job affected our lives in a way that we had to move from one city to another in almost every 5 year max. and it took us 5 different cities to get settled, finally.

I was born in Balıkesir and lived there until the age of 4. Following, we moved to Ankara and started my pre-school education there and took me around 6 years to leave the city, which led us to Istanbul for 2 years. After dad's academy here was finito, we moved to Diyarbakır for almost 4 years. (I had to leave at the 3.5th year period since there's been a couple problems going on.) For 5 months after leaving the city, I moved to Samsun, where my grandparents live and been a company to them. It is followed with Ankara for a year, and here comes the AMAZING part.

Ankara was a milestone for me to start my traveling dreams to become true and I applied for AFS Intercultural Exchange Programs exams and I passed them! It took me to a year long journey to Feldbach, Austria nearby to a native host family and lived there for a year with them. What a great experience... Good old days...

As every good thing has an end, I came back to Turkey, Istanbul again, to my 'family' family, and we've been living here for almost 6 years already.

I'm currently studying Visual Arts and Communication Design at Sabancı University, one of the best in Turkey, 182nd in the WORLD! :)

Probably gonna be graduated in 1.5 years and get into this JOB world, sadly.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As I've mentioned in 'About Me' part of my profile, I've always been into that intercultural experience sharing and knowing the inside of the lifestyle of others, also, sharing what's going on on my side. Couchsurfing is the best voluntarily working organization that may help me to see what i can share and experience with you! If you are also into that, sharing your house or want my house to be shared, and telling me your life story, that's AWESOME!

Tom Waits - Invitation to the Blues could be one of my favourites. However there is that band called Snarky Puppy, they are... AMAZING! Some perfect guys in terms of music and probably personality, came together and making that PERFECT sound!!! I'd strongly suggest you to listen to Lingus from the band. :)
