À propos de moi

Hello,

I prefer to host people who understand that couchsurfing is more than free accomodation so please try to tell about yourself, your plans, your expectations, etc.

IMPORTANT:
If you’re a racist, misogynist, or homophobic person, please don’t even bother to write.

Update: the same applies if you’re pro-Israel or if you think the current situation is “complicated” to have a stance. In case you never heard of Popper’s paradox of tolerance, let me explain it to you: it is about that tolerance does not entail tolerating intolerance. Nor bigotry. Nor genocide. So I am not tolerarting or respecting your opinion if that is the case. If you mention your position on these issues, there’ll be a higher chance for me to reply.

Anyway, here is “about me”:

I did Political Science and Sociology in the undergrad in Turkey and I just finished a master in Development Economics here in Paris. Right now I am doing a fulltime internship on Data Science and LLMs (yup longstory)

Among my interests, traveling used to take the first place for years. Not sure if it has changed recently, yet to be seen. The thing about traveling is that it was making me feel attached, connected, and empowered. I can't deny, it also made me escape my problems. There was a certain beauty in going so far away that you'd eventually forget what was bothering you in the first place.

Yet, it also came with a cost: "You will never be completely home again, because part of your heart will always be elsewhere. That is the price you pay for the richness of loving and knowing people in more than one place."

Other than that, I’m super into politics, philosophical and intellectual debates, cinema and languages.

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

I joined here as I love meeting foreign people, and making new friends. Now I can’t imagine a life without it.

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

It’s too hard to pick a favorite movie but I’d say Magnolia, La Double vie de Veronique, Dogville, We Need to Talk about Kevin, Caché, Dogtooth, Blow up, Aftersun, Frances Ha, Once upon a time in Anatolia are among my all time favorites.

Most books I read were on political or sociological theory due to my undergraduate studies. In terms of fiction I can consider the Bell Jar as one of my favorites.

No particular taste for music ✋🏻

Enseignez, apprenez, partagez

I guess I can teach the languages I know, some card games, Turkish traditional dances, share my experiences and stories, and learn anything as long as it doesn't require a unique talent :)
