About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live off the beaten path

ABOUT ME

I grew up in Michigan and have lived in Tennessee for 12 years, minus the year I was teaching English in the Republic of Georgia. I've done some backpacking, long distance walking and traveling solo. I love to laugh and take advantage of any opportunity that won't come along again, meet new people and create stories. I'm thrifty and proud of it, I love to dance and eat great food wherever I go!

PHILOSOPHY

Where you invest your love, you invest your life. –Mumford and Sons

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I can't host at the moment because I have a roommate, but I would love to meet up! I use CS when traveling and have experienced the most amazing hospitality imaginable.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have met many memorable people through CS, many of whom I stay in touch with after my trips. I love traveling this way because it's not "normal" and you get the real cultural experience of wherever you are as opposed to the commercial version.

Interests

Art, photography, travel, churches, random happiness, friends, food, dancing, laughing, camping, meeting people, learning, sharing perspectives, conversation, music, thrift stores, hiking, walking, history, pilgrimmage...

Music, Movies, and Books

I fall asleep during movies, but I enjoy Back to the Future, Hot Rod, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and a few more. I like most music except country. Bluegrass speaks to my soul. I like to read anything and everything, except for instruction manuals without pictures.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I slept out under the stars at the foot of Mt. Ararat in really cold, icy weather! It was fantastic and I almost got eaten by nearby jackals... kind of.

Perhaps more randomly, I was an extra in a local Nashville Cashville commercial. I waved 20 one dollar bills in the air as someone talked about cashing in your gold for money. I got to keep the $20.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love it when people show me new experiences. I also like to learn about places I go. I'm always open to learning new types of dance! A life goal of mine is to eat as many kinds of (cooked) animal meat as possible.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can lead dumpster diving or thrift store excursions any day of the week, and I can also make a mean bacon/chocolate candy bark. I can share the best places to hike in Tennessee and beyond.

Countries I’ve Visited

Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Egypt, France, Georgia, Germany, Haiti, Honduras, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Palestine, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom
