We're students from the Netherlands aged 25 and 28. We've completed a degree in Clinical and Neuropsychology and are in our final year of our MSc in biomedical science Yani will be moving on to pursue an MD, while Thomas will be starting another master's in human evolution. We were both raised to travel to experience and not to visit and we've carried this mentality with us through all our trips. We're open to have a good time, talk, laugh, learn and share :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We want to experience different countries and cultures. In our opinion, the only way that you can really experience a country is through the knowledge, kindness, experience, likes, dislikes and eyes of locals. Connecting with hosts that are willing to share their environment and their home with us and other surfers that can share their experiences of where they've been seems like great fun!

Interests

We're interested in a broad range of things but a few of our top favorites are outdoor activities like hiking, canoeing, camping etc, cooking, movies, dancing, yoga, (bio)medical science, history, skateboarding, making and listening to music and of course, travel :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Music genres we enjoy range from classical music to blues and to metal/rock music. One of the reasons we like travel is to visit music festivals; so far we have visited a few in Iceland and Norway. We're always open to getting to know new bands/artists!

Teach, Learn, Share

Yani has been a dance teacher for close to 10 years now (she started young) so if that is something you enjoy, she can certainly teach a few dance steps. She can have you dancing some salsa in no time ;) She can make pasta from scratch so if you are in possession of a rolling pin and don't mind if your countertop gets a little messy, she'll offer to teach you how to make just about any type of pasta you'd like. Thomas can teach piano or just about any bowed string instrument and doesn't mind sharing some tunes of his own. If you play an instrument a little jam session is never far away. Furthermore, he is always up for playing any sport. We're both very open to learning new things that you might be able to share with us; both in the form of knowledge that we might not be aware of yet or skills that you happen to master. Learning about the cultural background and history of the country we visit is always high on our priority list as well. If you are willing to teach us a little of your native language we are always game and will do our best to pronounce things as well as we can.

What I Can Share with Hosts

We have a passion for cooking good and honest food. Cooking together with others or preparing a good meal for friends are two of our favorite things to do. We would be honoured to cook for, or even better, together with our host and other surfers. Accompanied by a nice glass of wine, beer or non-alcoholic drink and some quality conversation I think we can have a very good evening. We have some good travel stories and don't mind sharing them if you're interested :)
