To complete my ever-expanding bucket list!
ABOUT ME
The first impression people often have of auditors and accountancy students in general is that they are extremely uptight and boring people. So let me start out by saying, I AM NOT BORING. I PROMISE.
I'm still not quite sure Accounting is cut out for me but I'm going to give it a shot, as an auditor. I'll see how it goes in a year or two.
I spend most of my time with my dog. She's the greatest thing that has happened to me.
And Travelling! Gosh, I love travelling. I make an effort to travel at least once a year. I just got back to Singapore from a 2-months long internship in New York and a 4.5-months exchange in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. SO AMAZING.
PHILOSOPHY
Be the person your dog thinks you are.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love travelling and I love meeting new people.
Was introduced to couchsurfing by a close friend of mine, Sharlyn, whom I have travelled Hong Kong, Batam and Australia with. It struck me as an amazing idea from the start but the same question lurked - is it safe?
I've had my account for quite some time, but was hesitant on being an active member as being from a traditional background, I was cautious of the nature of the website and how it worked.
However, after my first and second couchsurfing experiences in Australia last year, I'm more than ready to completely immerse myself in the Couchsurfing community!
Interests
A friend once told me that I was a "Jack of all trades". I dance sometimes, I sing sometimes, I read sometimes, I travel sometimes, I cook sometimes, I bake sometimes, I party sometimes, I hangout sometimes, I watch movies/TV sometimes, and I sleep a hell lot.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
When I was studying in Taiwan, I joined the Astrology Society on a trip up Mt. He Huan. It was 4 degrees Celsius out, and that is the coldest I have ever been. Five or six of us stayed up all night, cuddling together on a mat, laying on our backs and watching the night sky. In Singapore, because of all the light pollution, spotting 20 stars is already a feat. But there I was, with hundreds and thousands of stars above my head. The milky way could be seen with my naked eye, so the telescope was redundant. It was such a humbling and breathtaking experience.
"Calvin: If people sat outside and looked at the stars each night, I'll bet they'd live a lot differently.
Hobbes: How so?
Calvin: Well, when you look into infinity, you realize that there are more important things than what people do all day."
What I Can Share with Hosts
I love sharing my travel experiences with others, having travelled a considerable number of places in my short 23 years. I also love to hear what others have to share about their travel experiences!! These exchanges open my eyes to what lies in store in the world for me and inspire me to go on more travels to broaden my horizons. I truly think people who love to travel are the best people.
I guess people are often very curious with the culture in my home country, Singapore, as well. We are a curious mix of modern metropolitan and traditional Asian cultures which proves to be an interesting topic no matter who I speak to.
Besides loving to talk, I guess I am also more than willing to share some of the awesome local singaporean cuisine with my hosts! They usually require a lot of time and work but in the modern age of "pre-packed" foods anything is possible. That means this amateur cook here might be able to whip up a delicious meal or two for us.
