ABOUT ME
Hi, I am Yannick!
I am a person who loves to travel, obviously. I like meeting people and share with them. I actually think this is what makes a difference between a nice trip and a wonderful trip. Hanging out has always been giving me the most fabulous and meaningful memories I've had of a trip. Visiting places and seeing things is pretty neat, but sharing moments with people becoming friend .... is incredible!
And what have I done so far? Well, I started traveling when I was 17 years old. I did an immersion program in Canada (the Ouest Coast) to learn english for 6 months. I fell in love with travel and I never really stopped. Since then, I went to Cuba for a humanitarian aid trip. I backpacked in Mexico and Indonesia. I hitchhiked all across North America. I lived in the UK for a couple months as well. Quite excited!
PHILOSOPHY
The earth is so big. Why would we bother staying at the same place for all our life? There is no reason to do so. The world is made to be discovered!!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I couchsurfed a little bit when in the United State. I did this 3 times; in Chicago, in Minneapolis and in San Francisco.
In Chicago, the guy was quite nice, I have nothing bad to say. Nevertheless, he doesn't a profile anymore :(
In San Francisco, I couchsurfed with a girl I had met a few days before. But our host wasn't interested in both of us ... he was only talking and looking at the girl. This experience was frustrating because I knew what he expected. Anyway, I'm just glad he didn't get what he wanted! hahaha
In Minneapolis, my couchsurfing experience was amazing. They brought me to a bunch a places and we hung out a lot. They made sure I had a great experience and I did. We spent a few days together and I didn't regret it at all!
Interests
I like to discover things that nobody knows, to travel in places that nobody have never gone. I like to listen to music that nobody listen to.
I like original things! :D
Music, Movies, and Books
I don't ''read much'', but there is a book I read many times called Ishmael. It totally changed my way of thinking about so many things. I love this kind of book/movie. It makes you think.
Yeah, I like to music, movies and book that makes you think.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
There would be two things that I'm really proud of.
After high school, my life completely changed and I've done many amazing things. But I can't ignore one thing I did before that, when I was 17 years, before changing. So I'm going to cheat and I'm going to mention two amazing things I've done! :)
First, as a musician, I composed a few of songs on piano. And when I was 17 years old, for a school project, I arranged one of them as an orchestra song and I led it in a concert at the end of the year. I was astonished to see the result of what came out from my head! It was something very difficult to do, I took the whole year to arrange the song to all instruments and I led all the repetition by myself.
It was so great to experiment this part of being a musician. My teacher was very imprest and he even told me that a normal student could have not done something like that! :o
With all the claps I got at the end, I was so emotionally touched ... That I cried xD. The music was my life at this time of my life :p
The second things I'm the most proud of would be that I finally dared to hitchhick across North America in 2013! I wanted to try this but I had always feared to dive into the unknown, not knowing where I was going and being constantly in contact with strangers. But this led to the most amazing experience I've ever done. I never organised anything in this trip and I've never done so many incredible things! I jumped in a crazy roadtrip with strangers in Las Vegas, I saw a northern light in the night of Saskachewan, I got invited in a Shisha party in Yellowstone and so on!
Letting everything go led to a fabulous experience of life!
