About Me

Hello! My Name is Yannik, I'm part of the 1995 generation and student of politics and german studies in Darmstadt.

I was born in the south of Germany (Mannheim), moved to the north of Germany (Osnabrück) and returned to the South (St. Leon-Rot, Weinheim) when I was 6 years old.

From 8/2014 to 8/015, I was a volunteer in Mexico where I worked for a NGO in Comitan, Chiapas. This was also the time when I got connected to couchsurfing. I went to Mexico in august 2014, which is also the date when I started to travel a lot on my own.

In my free time, I enjoy playing, watching soccer, playing tabletennis and darts or read and write - I'm part of a local group of young journalists who care about local occurrences! I also enjoy playing, watching, listening to, talk or think about football ⚽

Weinheim is a beautiful, little town, beautiful located next to the old plain of the river Rhine and famous for its two castles Wachenburg and Windeck. Because of these castles, Weinheim is known as the "two-castle-city".
This region is also a famous wine-growing region - so here are a lot of possibilities to have some nice walks! Starting from my place, its a 25min walk to get to the historic district of Weinheim, where you can find a lot of small houses in winding alleys, built in the middle age.
When you are in the city, whre you can get by bus (every hour), tramway (every 20-30min) - or by walk - we have some nice attractions for everyone who loves the nature!
Next to the castle ground you can see the biggest and oldest cedar in germany and the Hermannshof, a colourful display garden.
The highlight is the ,exotic forest' with a lot of sequoias and other trees from all over the world!

If you want to visit Heidelberg, just enter the tramway, which is 3 min away from my place!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

During my time I spent in Mexico i realized the big win-win situation for poeple who find together to explore a city of even a country! In this time, I made first experiences in sharing home, days and times - and I want to continue!
Its so nice to meet a lot of people from different countrys and places to share a part of the culture and local spots. Its nice to get to know to new poeple who love to travel and explore the world!

I just had positive experiences with couchsurfing and I want to pay back that I had and have and will have these amount of nice experiences and want to enable everyone to enjoy their external time!
So it is an honour for me to make your trip as comfortable and interesting as possible!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My volunteer year in Mexico! It was an amazing time, I learned a lot about myself and to live in other contexts with other problems in daily and basic live! This experience changed myself and is still changing me, for the rest of my life!

My two spontaneaus trips to the EURO 2016 in France are something I still like to remember, even if Germany lost against France in half-finals :(

I bought a harmonica in Mexico but never started to learn really! So when you play the harmonica I would love to learn a bit from you :)

We have a lot of card games and parlor games, and certain there is one you would like to play/learn how to play :)

If you share my passion soccer, I can arrange some activities like playing in a group or visiting soccer stadiums (the stadiums from Hoffenheim, Darmstadt, Frankfurt, Mainz, Wiesbaden, Sandhausen, ... are easily visitable and I always know if theres a match coming soon :) )

I like to share books, because the messages need to pass on to other critical readers :)
