About Me

My name is Yao(=^・ω・^=). I'm from China but currently pursuing an undergraduate degree of information system and analytics in the US. I am a super big fan of classical music, Franz Liszt is my favorite pianist. I love food, big food guy. My mom taught me how to make Chinese food but I had no time to practice and I'm trying to pick that up. I love getting to know people, I think everyone is super unique and there's so much I can learn from each and every one of them.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I find that this could be a great opportunity for me to meet new people from all over the world. I love hearing stories and adventurous that others had and get inspired by them. I'm relatively introvert so I love to challenge myself traveling and meeting new people. Also I'm a poor college baby so low budget travel is also great haha.

Interests

I had a good varieties of hobbies but I wouldn't say I'm great at any of them lol. I do a lot of other stuff such as sports or art or whatever. I tried to be healthy and work out as much but I'm still skinny. I have a dark sense of humor. I am willing to try all kinds of different things and learn new knowledge and be a better person everyday.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Climbed from the bottom of a valley onto a hidden catwalk on the bottom of a huge bridge! I was kinda afraid of height so it was very challenging for me to do it. But I encouraged myself and took the risk to climb and I made it! Seeing the scenery with the sunset from that high of a place was breathtaking and I found a spray paint quote when I climbed on top, which said:"The Best things in life are on the other side of fear!"

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share my stories about my experiences I had, I can share Chinese culture and hopefully be able to successfully cook Chinese food. I teach beginning piano and maybe a little bit singing. I play (gentle) sports such as swimming, ping pong, badminton in a non competitive manner coz I feel like I would die. I am currently teaching myself computer programming skills and we can learn together. I am open to learn any kinda of new skills and tricks or languages. I am especially willing to have someone who can force me to go to the gym lol.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My friendship. My knowledge in terms of my culture and language. Someone who is willing to listen to your stories and you can rant to. My stories. A good partner to hang out with. I can teach beginning piano or just play you a song it permitted. I'd also be willing to buy you or cook you a meal or five!
