Overview
About Me
I am from the Northern part of Ukraine, but has been living in Kyiv for the past 7 years or so. I got a bachelor degree in international relations at the Institute of International Relations of Kyiv. I work at the department of international cooperation at a Ukrainian energy company. At the same time, I do research on Russian foreign policy being a member of The Team Ukraine of The Hague Center for Strategic Studies.
I am really passionate about history, international relations and politics (but if you avoid conversations about it, I don't mind). I also like to talk about literature and art in general. And of course, I like sport, especially football and tennis. Beside this, I am always eager to discover new facts about different countries and cultures. So, I am sure we will find what to talk about.
I tend to travel a lot both across Ukraine and abroad, and while I am in Kyiv I usually have quite a busy schedule. However, I have a nice (and probably large enough) place to host people. So don't hesitate to write me about it and probably you will jump right into the free spot in my schedule:) Even if we don't get to spend much time together, I will be able to get you some recommendations regarding what to do and where to go. Or even better - my flatmate Viktor will take care of you)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I started to use Couchsurfing while being on Erasmus in Spain and I was amazed by the huge added value that this platform gives to my journeys. Best memories from the trips are usually related to my hosts. So, now for me CS is the best way to get as many impressions about the country I visit as possible. Since recently I have the possibility to host people, so I am starting to explore this side of the community too.
Music, Movies, and Books
I listen to very different music - my friends can attest this)
Unfortunately, I don't always have time to watch films, but my favourites films that I admire since childhood are The Lord of the rings, Harry Potter, The Pirates of the Carribean and Matrix. For the past 2 years I started to watch films more regularly and now I also can give pieces of advice to people on this. From classic "Green mile" and "Schindler's list" through old "12 angry men" to Taika Waititi's movies.
My favourite books are very different. In this list you will find "Animal Farm" by Orwell, "The Universe at Hand" by Galfard, "A History of Western Philosophy" by Russell and "Big Mac" by Serhiy Zhadan.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Went to Plaza Botero in Medellín in the late evening
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you some words in Ukrainian, Russian or Spanish
I also have a piano at my place - I've never learned playing it professionally, but you are free to use it.
Also we may have the chance to go and play tennis if you are interested.
And, of course, anything you can find in the fridge:)
What I Can Share with Hosts
At the first place - the histories about my travel experience and some lifehacks about places where I have been to
Secondly - I know a lot about my own country and I hope it will be interesting for you. I know that people abroad don´t know a lot about Ukraine or know some stereotypes. So, let´s break them)
Finally, I can speak on a wide range of topics so I will adapt myself to you depending on what you want to talk about)
