Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I LOVE meeting new people and exchanging stories, learning about their favourite things, maybe learning something new!

Solo-travelling is a new thing for me and something I'm trying for the first time this year, I'm hoping to make some new friends along the way. Short-term friends, long-term friends, friends who mainly only exchange cool pictures, friends who only talk every few months - it's all good. 😊

Unfortunately I'm not able to host any Couchsurfers myself due to living in a shared flat with a Housemate who wouldn't be happy with that. I'm more than happy to meet up with people instead! 😊

Interests

My main interests are in stories - book, films, tv shows, stories people have to tell - doesn't matter the media.

I mainly read science fiction, fantasy and some YA fiction, occasionally straying into other genres.

I also love to follow the street art in Manchester or wherever I'm visiting, taking photos of it and sharing it with friends. I'll occasionally take photos of other things - buildings, or painting or people - whatever catches my fancy at the time! I'm a VERY amateur "photographer".

I also practice martial arts with Missing Link Martial Arts. I've been with them for 4 years now and they're a great group, awesome people, culturally diverse and very welcoming of everyone!

I also occasionally do a bit of origami. Oh and I'm a frequent visitor of cafes - coffee and chocolate are just the BEST.

I'm also a frequent visitor of the Musem of Science and Industry, the art galleries and generally and fun local events that are happening. 😊

Music, Movies, and Books

Books - I love Neil Gaiman, Diana Wynne Jones, Terry Pratchett, Becky Chambers, Clare North, Frederick Pohl, Philip K Dick, Ursula Le Guin, Larry Nevin etc.

Music - a variety of people. From Amanda Palmer / Dresden Dolls to Voltaire, They Might Be Giants, Limp Bizkit, Korn, Metallica, Missy Elliot, Jonathan Coulton, Robyn, VNV Nation, The Cruxshadows, Rob Zombie, Aqua, Pink, Musicals such as Moana, The Baghdaddies, Juanes etc. Whatever rocks my boat really!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Walking down and seeing Petra in Jordan, and floating in the Dead Sea. Both absolutely beautiful and amazing.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm not sure.. My company? I'm fairly easy going, always happy to chat to new people and be shown around your favourite place if you like doing that. Also equally happy to leave you alone if that's what you prefer too. Oh! I can do a bit of origami, I could show you how to do some too.

Honestly, I've never done this before, so not sure!
