About Me

——
Couchsurfing is not a dating app. I’m here to visit places with locals and host other people, that’s it. If you have any other intentions, feel free not to contact me.
——

Out of town August 1st - September 1st, as well as September 17th - late December.
Won’t be able to host during that time
——
Please also read the home section to not be incredibly surprised upon arrival
——

I'm originally from Germany and moved to Berlin for my studies.
I already lived in the States and Luxembourg, so I welcome anyone who knows either English or French, which I'd both like to keep practicing!

I like to think of myself as laid-back and hardworking. Next to studying I have a part-time job, so I may not always be around.
I am very organized which is necerssary for juggling a bunch of responsibilities :)

My free time is spent either by reading a book while enjoying a nice cup of tea, or by doing sports. (It highly depends on the season which one, in winter its ice skating. But I'm always in favor of swimming, hiking, badminton, table tennis, bouldering, or plain old weightlifting at the gym)
In summer spending time at some of the many lakes of Berlin and relaxing with friends is what I like most 😊
Very rarely I use my PS to game a bit, but it always helps me relax.
I spend a lot of time cooking, mostly vegan, sometimes vegetarian food and I prefer to take in people who won’t bring any meat into the apartment.

At the moment my roommate and I spend a lot of time watching Terrace House, if you’ve got any recommendations of Korean/Japanese/Chinese shows (anything, really) shoot them at me!

Also we don’t smoke here, but we do have a balcony where guests could go.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because going to a different place is way more interesting if you can connect with people there, if you can have inside tips on what to do or what kind of things to see. Every now and then it is nice to be a real tourist and see everything touristy, but if you go everywhere like that you'll never truly experience another country or another culture!
It is always nice to connect with likeminded people over a cup of tea or a shared meal :)

So far I could only use couchsurfing as a guest, but now I will finally be able to give something back to the community and host others!

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm generally really interested in science-fiction as well as dystopias, and I'm trying to read all of the classics like H. G. Wells, Orwell, Bradbury etc., I just really enjoy to read about what different authors expect our future to be like.

Music: Depeche Mode - Gorillaz - Metronomy - MCR - Stromae - The Offspring - 80s music - rock and slightly hard rock - game and movie soundtracks

Movies: Fight Club - The Cornetto Trilogy - Men who stare at goats - Pride and Prejudice - Harry Potter - Lord of the Rings - Donnie Darko - The Martian

Books: 1984 - Brave New World - The Time Machine - The Martian Chronicles - The China Study - Needful Things - Die Physiker - Starship Titanic - any and all self-improvement books - anything about japanese culture - mythology

Also I enjoy gaming a lot, especially games in which your decisions have an impact on the story like Heavy Rain or Beyond: Two Souls. The best game I've ever played is Persona 5.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

-Climbing up a waterfall in Yosemite National Park

-Traveling the Nile on traditional nubic boats

-The obligatory skydiving (seriously, one of the best things I ever did)

-Attended a public screening of The Room, complete with plastic spoons and rules for shouting at the screen

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share with hosts
-recipes (mostly for vegan food and desserts)
-German language, culture and food (tho o honestly have to say that I dislike most German food. However, having a good Döner and curry sausage is obligatory when traveling to Berlin.
-I can teach you Magic the Gathering if you're interested :)
