About Me
Hey fellow couchsurfers!
I'm new to this 'creating one's own profile' thing but I'm very happy to be joining the couchsurfing community and will do my very best to give you plenty of information and photos so you can get a good idea of who I am.
I'm a full-time student at the University of St Andrews, studying, Arabic and Russian and recently Persian. I'm half Swedish, half Kiwi but grew up in Sweden and have been moving countries and travelling ever since I finished school. Before starting University I lived in Paris for a few years, having it as my base whilst travelling as much as my budget would allow me- and (not previously knowing French) learning the language through working and socialising.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I just love the idea of travelling and meeting locals and seeing how life is lived by the people who live there. I think the warmth of inviting people to your home is a great trait to have, and a great outlook on life.
I will be travelling for language purposes for a year now, but hopefully (once I've gotten a place settled for when I return to Scotland), I'll get to host fellow couchsurfers at my place in St Andrews in return!
Interests
I love meeting new people and learning new things.
Since I'm a language major I naturally love to immerse myself in a language when I travel, keen for people to teach me anything and all that they deem useful regarding both language and culture! Tongue twisters are a personal favourite!
I think the box 'My Favourite Music, Movies & Books' frames my interests pretty well. There are always art projects being taken part of in one way or another.. but other than that there are few things I enjoy more than good food and sweets.
Music, Movies, and Books
Wow, this is a tough one!
Music has always been a very big part of my life, having sung in choirs and played instruments as long as I can remember. I'd say any song in any genre of music that is well made can be absolutely great. It's all about finding that part you can't let go of.. the one that lingers in your mind.. and there's just nothing like finding or getting an amazing band recommended to you!
I used to work with film (see 'Sent på Jorden' and 'Förår') and was intent on making it my career for a while until I got the itch to start a new adventure, as I do. I'll appreciate anything from classics and high-budget productions, to low-budget, independent and new ones. Oh, and I absolutely love to watch series!!
Books.. well.. I'm of the type that stumbles upon an interesting title in an article, or finds an intriguing cover in a pile of used books somewhere and starts reading it on the spot. I usually have several books going at the same time, serving different states of mind.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Oh, how many scholarship essays have I not written about this?!
In all honesty, I can't really pick one thing.. there have just been so many wonderful and amazing things that would need to be mentioned if I got started.
Hopefully there are many more to come, and I'll be more than happy to tell you my stories and hearing yours in return when we meet face to face!
Teach, Learn, Share
I'd like to learn about anything you can offer culturally, linguistically and creatively- and I aim to do the same in return wherever there's interest in doing so!
