About Me

Azul 👋 Hello Salam Shalom Salut Hola Moi Jambo Kaixo Moïen

Azul soon to be friend 👋

Ps: If you don't wanna read all this, go to part 7 for a summary.)

Welcome to Marrakesh, where magic is real, and I assure you it won't take you long to see it; a walk in the tiny aisles of the souk is all it takes. "El bahja" is what Moroccans call Marrakesh and Marrakshis, and it literally means happy/funny people, so if you're looking for a good laugh, you're in the right place 💯.

Here, you'll see people smiling at you for no reason, and that alone will make your day better, so make sure you smile back 😁.

Whether you're staying with a host, in a hotel, riad, or a hostel, you gonna meet the nicest people, the stuff, the sellers in the souks, the people in jamaa el fna square.. Everyone is friendly.

I've been working in tourism since I was 15 till the pandemic hit 🙃 then I had to change the original use of my university degree (I was using it as a mouse pad 🤷) and try to make a living with it, weird.. but anyways, I did that and I'm working as a cross cultural marketing analyst and its as boring as it sounds 😅 and would love to go back to tourism once things get back to normal (whatever normal means🙃).

If we're lucky to meet let's make sure we learn from each other. I can be your cultural and political handbook! And I'll be grateful to learn a thing or two about you're language and culture.

While you're in Marrakesh, you'll have to try the food 🤩 other than the typical Moroccan food like Tagine, pastilla, and the sweets.. I would also recommend (if you're vegan skip this part 😂) Tangiya a typical Marrakeshi dish, it's mainly beef cooked on a low fire for 7h, and believe me, it's worth it 🤤

The souks are a good place to practice your bargain skills 😅
ps: Getting lost in the souk aisles is a part of the experience. Don't worry, even Marrakshis get lost from time to time 😅

Hosting 🤔🤔

P.S. This is my roommate's couchsurfing account @MOUHSSINE EZ-ZAHID . Most of the time, he's the one hosting people, and I'm the one talking to them 😅.

1- NO rules
2- Smoking/Drinking is allowed
3- not always available to hang out 😕
4- If you promise to cook a dish from your country, I'll 100% host you 😉
5- a language class is a must 👌
6- a conversation about philosophy and the meaning of life in the middle of the night is always a treat.
7- I walk a lot 😅 I thought you should know that.

Whether you're a traveler who wants to meet locals and learn about the culture, or you just want to enjoy your winter escape in Marrakesh without being social 🙃 you're welcome, of course I rather the first type 😉.

I'm Amazigh/berber originally from ouarzazate the gate of the sahara, and I grew up in Marrakesh, (I played football in jamaa el fna when it was less hectic than nowadays 😅) and I can tell you that my hometown is as beautiful as Marrakesh 🤥😅 specially if you're into the movie-making stuff they have huge studios there, where beautiful movies and series are made like : gladiator, troy, game of thrones, prince of persia ...
And NO Aladdine wasn't made there, but Marrakesh souks look exactly like that, maybe even better and more magical ✨️.

Part 7

There's no part 1 to 6. I just liked to call this part 7 😅.
My name is Yasser, I'm on a special mission in this world 🌎 learning everything I can about the cultures and languages, I love traveling and when I'm not traveling I like to have some of the world come to me. So, if you're in town, let's get a cup of coffee.

If you read all this, coffee is on me 😉
