ABOUT ME

I have always enjoyed making friends across borders. I love reading, watching films and travelling. I am a history buff and often get immersed in the stories related to the places I vist. I am quite a foodie and totally open to trying almost every kind of food - be it Haggis in Scotland or Fried Silkworms in China! I love both West Bengal, especially Kolkata, the city of Mother Teresa and Kerala - God's Own Country - and think of myself as an excellent guide and host for both places. Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I can host interested travellers at both Kolkata and Kerala and offer guidance for travelling across the lesser known but extremely beautiful and enchanting places in West Bengal, Orissa and the North-East in India and also, by now, the world famous tourist destination of Kerala.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Not done it yet! But intend to do it soon! However, I have visited UK - staying in Wales and Scotland, parts of Europe and China and Malaysia as a tourist. I have visited Bangladesh and Bhutan on work and thrown in a holiday tour at the same time! I believe that people everywhere are extremely welcoming and couchsurfing anywhere would be a fantastic experience.

Books - I am a Jeffrey Archer and Jane Austin Fan. I love Wilbur Smith, Alistair Mclean, Agatha Christie, Dan Brown, Christopher Paolini, J K Rawling...
Music - Mostly Hindi film music and Hindu mantras and chants.
Movies - Thrillers and Romances are favourites but I also like Sci-fi and action films. Favourite stars are George Clooney, Tom Cruise, Ben Affleck, Meg Ryan, Susan Saradon, Aamir Khan, Kajol, Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have played in the snow on Mt Titlis in Switzerland on one hand and shared puffed rice and tea with a poor farmer in Lalgarh in West Bengal at Dusk.

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to learn Salsa Dancing! I can teach the rudiments of Indian classical dance Kathak and Pranayam - breathing yogic exercises. I have in-depth knowledge of Hindu Mythology which I love to share. I also have a vast knowledge of rural India - acquired during my travels as a journalist across the country. I love to share that knowledge to open the eyes of the casual visitor towards the real India. I also wish to share my gladness in being in rural areas with travellers who want to enjoy that experience.
