My name is Yau. I own this beautiful city apartment located next to the Istana and Orchard Road and would like to share it with you. Please note my apartment is 10 to 15 mins walk from the nearest train stations, Dhoby Ghaut, Rochor, Bencoolen, Bugis MRT, and has several flight of stairs to climb. The bus stop at Peace Center Mall is a 10mins walk. My apartment, on the 3rd floor, has four levels of stairs to climb. If you dislike walking or climbing or have a leg or back injury, you might not like this apartment.

Please read this first, if you agree and can comply, please read on. If not, I will decline:

There are some house rules you must agree to.

- Please be respectful and polite. Common courtesy makes life much more pleasant. Smile :)

- No smoking is allowed inside the apartment.

- You have to be quiet for the benefit of the neighbours and other residents. No loud talking at night.

- Do not surprise us with "new guests" or "friends" you just met. The invite is for you only.

- For the personal safety of the other residents, I need to verify you in person before letting you in. My apartment is a private residential building and there are security doors. The passcode will only be provided after I meet you downstairs.

- No illicit drugs including marijuana are allowed. Actually, you can get death penalty or serious jail time if you are caught at the airport with that stuff. So don't do it.

- Do not wear your outdoor shoes or slippers in the apartment. In Asia, it is common courtesy to take off your shoes when entering a private home.

- Do not get drunk.

- You have to be clean when using the toilet; please clean up after yourself when using the toilet.

- Please maintain decent personal hygiene. This is the tropics. You will sweat so you must wash daily please.

- If you are religious or political, please keep it to yourself.

- Please maintain good communication with me - I have Facebook Messenger Whatsapp, Line, and Wechat app. Let me or Jenny know your day plan. Do not disappear overnight, we will get worried.

- I provide Hot water, aircon, wifi free of charge. Please don't abuse it.

CURRENT MISSION

I like to meet good, kind people. I want to travel, see beautiful things, write more.

I really want to AVOID rude, bad tempered, unreasonable people.

ABOUT ME

I like art, good stories, beautiful peaceful environments. I am easygoing. I enjoy sitting by my balcony in Singapore; it is very tranquil.

Beautiful things appeal to me. I like to take beautiful photographs above and under water. I also collect pretty antiques. I collect vintage typewriters, vintage postage stamps, maps, old letters with beautiful handwriting, Art Deco nude statues etc..

I dislike rude, inconsiderate people who get angry easily and have bad manners.

I love scuba diving. I prefer wall diving, deep sea diving, I love the sensation of hovering above the blue abyss - a blue world without end. I have swam with dolphins, barracudas, sharks, manta rays and humpback whales. I hope to swim with a mermaid one day :)

I would like to travel more and learn new languages. I'm currently learning Mandarin.

Treat others with the same kindness and respect you expect for yourself. Try and be positive and do things which you enjoy and like to do.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like to meet interesting people and I have a beautiful apartment to share. It is in the City area of Singapore - near Orchard Road, the Istana, Little India, Bugis, and Dhoby Ghaut MRT station. It is surrounded by tropical trees and birds. Hornbill birds visit occasionally. I'd like to share the place with sensible, kind hearted, polite people.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I swam inside a School of sixty Hammerhead sharks at 31m (100 feet) depth in Layang Layang, the South China Sea. You can watch my video on YouTube.
