About Me

Hello! My name is Yasmin, I am an IP attorney based in Boston, though I still think of myself as mid-westerner at heart. I'm very friendly and am usually laughing about one thing or another.

My personality shifts to match my environment: I can be energetic and outgoing, but I can also take a step back and sit in silence. I genuinely love meeting new people-- it's amazing how much you can learn from others.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Currently, I'm living in a two bedroom apartment with three people, so I have yet to have to opportunity to host others. I would love to host once I move into my own place.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've only couchsurfed once because, due to the demands of my job, my trips are usually last minute. Jon, my host, was great, and by couchsurfing, I was able to see many restaurants, neighborhoods, and shops I would never have discovered on my own.

Interests

Music, reading, politics, exercise, food (all the foods!), meeting new people, and comedy.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a fan of many types of music, but I particularly enjoy folk, indie rock and rap. A few examples would be: Sufjan Stevens, Iron & Wine, Modest Mouse, Postal Service, Arctic Monkeys, The Avett Brothers, Beyonce, Bon Iver, Regina Spektor, etc.

If I'm not reading a book, I'm listening to one. I am currently on a non-fiction kick, but some of my favorites include East of Eden and We Are Not Saved.

I feel like TV shows deserve a category, too, so some of my favorites are: Parks and Rec, Brooklyn 99, Bojack Horseman, etc. I also love movies, but can't say I have a favorite. I have many I have enjoyed.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Travel-wise, I haven't done much beyond what the typical traveler has done (though hopefully that will change), but one of my favorite experiences in nature was kayaking in a bio-luminescent bay in Vieques, an island off Puerto Rico's main island.

Teach, Learn, Share

People usually come to me for advice on healthy eating, strength training, cooking/baking, and life (work, relationships, family problems). I'm a good listener and don't judge people, so people tend to come to me for that kind of help. I've also acted and directed a couple of comedy shows (for fun, nothing professional), so I've taught people how to act and do improv.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Baking and Persian cooking advice; I've had tons of injuries, so I know of great stretches and massages for muscle ailments, an understanding of U.S. law and politics. I'm also a great editor -- it's my job to take complicated ideas and help make them easy to understand, so that bleeds in to my personal life as well!

My boyfriend, who I am planning on traveling with on my next two trips, knows even more about U.S. politics and loves to talk about ideas, U.S. candidates, etc. He also has an extensive knowledge on jam bands, books written by Nassim Taleb, and "persuasiveness."

Countries I’ve Visited
