Music, Movies, and Books
way too many!
movies: gosford park, the royal tenenbaums, i heart huckabees, paradise now, sleepy hollow, requiem for a dream, o brother where art thou, corpse bride...
music: phew... where to begin? in general, my musical interests are neatly divided between electronic music [dubstep (burial! moderat!), minimal techno/deep house (pantha du prince!), electro (four tet! caribou!) triphop/chill-out stuff (bonobo!)], lo-fi , folk and indie pop [owen pallett! the national! arcade fire! timber timbre!] and classical music [satie! saint-saens! schubert!]. I also enjoy jazz, hiphop, drum&bass, balkan folklore, some new wave and post-rock. and: i love mongolian throat singing! i really do!
books: jonathan safran foer, john keats, t.s. eliot, anne enright, paul murray, arthur hugh clough, judith hermann, bret easton ellis, thomas de quincey, john burnside etc etc etc. i LOVE books.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Sailing along the coast of Cornwall in the dead of night, the wind in my face, watching a school of dolphins swim next to our ship, leaving traces of light in the otherwise black water due to marine phosphorescence - it was cheesy but memorable.
