About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Squeezing as much joy from life as possible.

ABOUT ME

I can be a little quiet at first, but I am very honest and open-minded. I never shy away from a dare or something I am afraid to do. I have some major nerd-tendencies, love to read, do science, and sci-fi stuff, but also a major artsy/creative side that loves to paint, knit, and experiment with new recipes. I can come off very aloof and possible rude, but I promise it is just that my head is in the clouds! I always mean well :)

PHILOSOPHY

Do what you want. You're only alive right now.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So here is the story of me and my house:

Back in August of 2012 I was traveling through Spain, and I couchsurfed at the yellow and blue house at the invitation of Tristan (https://www.couchsurfing.org/people/demouse/). We hit it off, and I extended my stay into the weekend and then I was off to Portugal to finish off my European trip. But he couldn't stay away, so he pulled a sickie and chased after me to Portugal, convincing me to come back with him and join him in 2 weeks time on a holiday in Eastern Europe. It was utter bliss, and when I finally did go home a month later, it was only for 2 weeks before I was back again. We planned a trip for a month later to visit the states together, but it was an ill fated trip. Just days into his stay, he was in the hospital with a diagnosis of malignant brain tumor. We remained hopeful against the odds, were engaged in January 2013 (Paris), and married in April (Las Vegas). We were silly superstitious fools who thought we loved each other too much for either of us to die so soon, but we were wrong and he passed away in December. Now the yellow and blue house belongs to me, so I hope to fill it with as many couchsurfers as I can.

Now you know why there's an unemployed Texan living in a house in Spain.

Music, Movies, and Books

I personally own Stranger than Fiction, Garden State, and Romeo + Juliet.
My only vinyl is Josh Rouse's Turista, Nickel Creek's self titled, Jack Johnson's In Between Dreams, The Postal Service's Give Up, and Continuum and Room for Squares by John Mayer.
I love Death Cab for Cutie / The Postal Service's similes and metaphors.
Traveling with books is the best. My last trip through Europe was Game of Thrones-eriffic

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the most amazing things I've ever seen is bioluminescent bay in Puerto Rico. A lagoon that glows! I have a major thing for bioluminescence.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach knitting and crocheting, but they do require solid time and practice.

I'd love to learn more of the fiber arts, but any craft in general is of interest to me. I love to create.

I really am going to learn more Spanish. I swear!

If you're around during the week:

MONDAY nights I attend a local yoga class which is donation based.

WEDNESDAY and THURSDAY nights I am often participating in some way with nude life drawing sessions.
