Interests

Anybody know that book/film "High Fidelity", where the main character starts off with the philosophy that "it's what you like, not what you are like"--meaning that he thinks that interest define a person more than personal characteristics? I kind of think the opposite of that. I love it when somebody shows me the interesting side of something I was initially not that interested in. I'm a willing convert.
